Countdown to Halloween 2025 Day 23: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Halloween Special #1

Boom! Studios released Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Halloween Special #1 this week. The cover has the Black and Red Power Rangers entangled in vines before a giant jack-o-lantern. This issue has four different stories featuring different villains. If you are a fan of the Power Rangers tv show or movies, then you might like this issue. Here is the official summary:

"The spookiest showdown in Angel Grove history is here! For the first time ever, it’s a Power Rangers Halloween one-shot — featuring the return of the Pumpkin Rapper and the debut of the sugary Colonel Maize! When the villains capture a bus full of kids and a few of their fellow teammates, the Rangers must swap scary stories from their most harrowing missions in order to keep hope alive."

This week's Women Wednesday post features Marian Heretic #1 that Boom! Studios released this week. Here is the summary:

Countdown to Halloween 2025 Day 21: Fanta Halloween 2025 Collection

I guess I should post about the Fanta Halloween 2025 collection since I posted the Pineapple Fanta can featuring Michael Myers yesterday. I found a bottle of the Chucky Fruit Punch Fanta at the beginning of the month at the local Dillons but no local stores had the cans. Dillons currently has the Freddy Fazbear Orange Fanta (I didn't see the zero sugar version). I have yet to watch the Five Nights at Freddy's movie or play the video game, so I'm not really interested in getting the Orange Fanta. I haven't seen any of the Black Phone movies, so I have no desire to get the Grabber Strawberry Fanta either.

Update: Somehow this post's title got deleted. It's fixed now.

Countdown to Halloween 2025 Day 20: Pineapple Fanta Featuring Michael Myers

I picked up a twelve pack of Pineapple Fanta cans featuring Michael Myers at the local Dillons store earlier this month. We got it because my sister is a big fan of the Halloween movies. I think this is the first time I tried Pineapple Fanta and found it okay tasting.

Countdown to Halloween 2025 Day 19: 30 Days of Night: Falling Sun #1

IDW Publishing released 30 Days of Night: Falling Sun #1 on October 15, 2025. This one has plenty of blood and vampires. Here is the official summary:

"IDW’s hit horror franchise returns with a terrifying new tale! The town of Barrow has moved on. Those who remember the vampiric terror of two decades past would rather not talk about it. Those who don’t remember don’t believe the stories. Ignorance will be their downfall, because a dark memory is stirring in the heart of Romania and it has set its sights on Barrow, the death place of Vicente. While vampires seek revenge for their fallen leader in Alaska, troubled teen Jalen James seeks sanctuary. After fleeing gang violence in Los Angeles, Jalen needs a fresh start. But he’s unlikely to find it as the sun falls…"

The Blue Falcon and Dynomutt #2

Dynamite Entertainment released The Blue Falcon and Dynomutt #2 on Wednesday. There are several alternate covers and they are all pretty cool. Here's the official summary:

"READY TO TAKE A BITE OUT OF CRIME! Following last issue’s shocking events, inventor Radley Crown has declared a war on crime in Big City, and he’s tearing through his hometown’s underworld in the guise of his alter ego, the Blue Falcon. But there are things awaiting him in the shadows that are stranger and more deadly than any run-of-the-mill gangster or psychopath — and they’ve set their sights squarely on the Falcon’s faithful canine companion!"

Countdown to Halloween 2025 Day 18: Fantastic Four x Gargoyles #1

Today is Science Fiction Saturday so what could be better than Fantastic Four x Gargoyles #1 from Marvel and Disney. The one-shot was released earlier this week and mixes science fiction with horror. The cover features Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch, Ben Grimm aka the Thing and Susan Storm aka the Invisible woman along with Goliath, Hudson, Bronx and Brooklyn. Several other characters from both companies also appear in the story.

Here is the official summary:

"MARVEL’S FIRST FAMILY UNITES WITH THE MANHATTAN CLAN IN THIS EXCITING CROSSOVER! GARGOYLES creator and acclaimed Marvel writer Greg Weisman brings the Gargoyles to the Baxter Building alongside star artist Enid Balám! Danger strikes when the super villain Diablo learns stone gargoyles may hold the secret to eternal life… but the Gargoyles aren’t about to let him leech the blood of his own! Fortunately, they’ve got the help of expert Diablo-bashers — the Fantastic Four! Plus: Tony Stark and David Xanatos compare facial hair, Marvel’s own Gargoyle, Isaac Christians, bonds with his new kin, and more! You won’t want to miss this collision of beloved universes!"

There are also four variant covers. My favorite is the cover featuring Demona and the Invisible Woman:

Countdown to Halloween 2025 Day 17: Mirror, Mirror by Edgar J. Hyde

Mirror, Mirror is the tenth and final stand alone book in the Creepers series. The Molina family finds an antique mirror for their new home when seven-year-old Sophie finds an old wind-up music box with a dancing ballerina that she must have. Her parents are quick to cave in while her older sisters, Maya and Dani, could care less. The store owner tells them that the mirror and music box both came from the same estate. Later at home, Sophie plays the music box and soon sees a young ghost named Sara in the mirror. She tells her sisters, who don't believe her until they also see the ghost. Their mother's sister, Camila, comes for a visit and brings them a puppy, which Sophie names Sweetie. She has to watch the three girls while their parents attend a fundraiser. Sweetie goes missing and ends up with Sara in the mirror. It's up to Maya and Dani to uncover the ghost's past and set things right. This is more of a sad book than a scary one for me. I found myself wanting to see what happens next. Overall, I give this an A+ and highly recommend it if you enjoy sad ghost stories. Includes the first two chapters of Doctor Death.
