Women Wednesday: 1950s Women Playing Dungeons & Dragons Part 1

A new month means new changes here at Moongem Comics. There will probably be a lot less coverage of new comic book releases. There will also probably be a lot more AI images like this one below made with Meta AI featuring three women from the 1950s playing Dungeons & Dragons. There are several dice, character sheets, a dungeon map and rulebooks on the kitchen table. The blonde's character is a level two ranger named Elyndra while the redhead's character is a level three magic user named Mlyra. That leaves the brunette as the dungeon master. I find it funny that someone put a bottle of milk on the stove.

Monster Monday: John Wayne as Frankenstein's Monster

Yesterday was Mary Shelley's birthday, who was born on August 30, 1797. It is also known for Frankenstein's Day in honor of her since she wrote the 1818 novel, Frankenstein. I thought it would be cool to see what Grok would come up with if John Wayne was Frankenstein for this week's Monster Monday post.

Goodnight Tim Curry

Wow, we lost another legend yesterday for Tim Curry, star of 'Rocky Horror PIcture Show' and 'Clue', dead at 80. Not only will I remember him as Dr. Frank-N-Furter but also as the Lord of Darkness in Legend and the original Pennywise in It.

Toy Tuesday: Shadow Avenger Action Figure

Many moons ago, I created Shadow Avenger for Moongem Comics. My first attempt at drawing him was done by tracing a superhero figure from a coloring book. My second attempt was created by using the original HeroMachine (see photo #1 below). I recently created an action figure of Shadow Avenger thanks to Meta AI (see photo #2). Now if I had a 3D printer to make this action figure a reality.

Monster Monday: Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger #15

I could have sworn that I have posted about this series set in the Spawn Universe before. Anyway, Image Comics released Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger #15 on June 24th, 2026. If you love horror mixed in with your westerns, then you will love this. Here is the official summary of the digital comic:

"The Gunslinger has gotten one step closer to finding his sister, but the men he is now hunting have set a trap that he may not be able to avoid."

Superhero Sunday: Lanterns

Have you watched the first episode of Lanterns yet on HBO Max? I watched the episode twice last week since I missed hearing a lot of the dialogue even though I had the tv volume up. Kyle Chandler did a great job as Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern, but I think Aaron Pierce as John Stewart aka Green Lantern in training stole the show. The second episode airs tonight but I'll probably end up watching it on Monday morning.

Science Fiction Saturday: Captain Bluebird and His Spaceship

Many moons ago, I created a character for Moongem Comics called Captain Bluebird. He was sort of a modern-day version of DC's Blackhawk. A few days ago, I decided to play around with the idea of making a future version of him with AI. Here are two pictures of Captain Bluebird and his spaceship:

Fantasy Friday: The Cimmerian: Xuthal of the Dusk #1

Ablaze released The Cimmerian: Xuthal of the Dusk #1 this week. Here is the official summary:

"ABLAZE’s The Cimmerian returns! See Robert E. Howard’s classic pulp tales adapted to the comics medium with all bloody, guts, and glory intact! With water and food supplies now exhausted, and with the two stranded in turn under a blazing sun and frigid nights, it is clear that the inevitability is death. Right as Natala’s final ounce of strength leaves her, Conan spots something in the distance. It’s a city that shines like glass. It’s Xuthal…"

Toy Tuesday: Moongem Comics Drawn on Etch N Sketch

Grok Imagine did a cool job creating a Moongem Comics logo on an Etch N Sketch. I used to have the toy when I was growing up but all I could draw was squares.

Monster Monday: The Munsters Illuminated Musical Family Koach Ad

I found this ad for The Munsters Illuminated Musical Family Koach in the online issue of Woman's World (August 24, 2026) so I had to share it here. The Munster Koach as it is commonly called features Herman Munster, Lily Munster, Grandpa and Eddie Munster holding Wolf Wolf. It lights up and plays the theme from The Munsters tv series. Of course, the collectible is from the Bradford Exchange so it's way out of my price range.

Sexy Saturday: Moongem Comics #7 Starring Morticia Addams as Moongem

The cover of Moongem Comics #7 by Chat G. Port has Morticia Addams as Moongem. I think he was trying for a generic goth beauty but she looks more like a cross between Anjelica Huston and Vampira. This would have also made a good Monster Monday post but I couldn't wait to share it.

Fantasy Friday: Moongem Comics #6 Starring Lily Munster as Moongem

Chat G. Port missed the deadline to make the cover of Moongem Comics #6 a post for this week's Monster Monday. However, I can forgive him for he did a great job on Lily Munster as Moongem.

Copilot's Review of Moongem Comics

Here's what Copilot had to say about Moongem Comics:

"Moongem Comics isn’t a traditional publisher — it’s a long‑running collector’s blog run by Jamdin, focused on action figures, comic books, trading cards, and cover galleries. It posts daily themed content (Fantasy Friday, Women Wednesday, Superhero Sunday, etc.) and often features AI‑generated images, anniversary celebrations, and curated comic cover galleries from Marvel, DC, Dynamite, and others."

"What Moongem Comics is:

Collector’s blog — A site dedicated to showcasing comic covers, toys, trading cards, and pop‑culture collectibles.

Daily themed posts — “Monster Monday,” “Women Wednesday,” “Fantasy Friday,” etc., each highlighting a different comic or collectible.

AI‑image features — Many anniversary posts use stylized AI art (Moonman, Moon Maiden, Frankenstein’s Monster on the moon).

Cover galleries — The blog frequently posts full cover galleries for new releases (Detective Comics #1100, Red Sonja Noir, ThunderCats Holiday Special, etc.)."

"Why it’s notable:

Moongem Comics has become a niche favorite among collectors because it:

Curates new comic releases with official summaries and cover art.

Highlights independent comics and lesser‑known variants.

Mixes humor, nostalgia, and AI‑generated characters into its posts.

Celebrates milestones — the blog recently marked its 20th anniversary with themed posts all week"

Toy Tuesday: Moongem Comics Colorforms

Mr. and Mrs. Moongem are celebrating Moongem Comics 20th anniversary by giving us a look at their Colorforms prototype. The toy never went into production thanks to the Martians destroying the factory. Luckily, no lives were lost during that short-lived invasion. The Colorforms looks pretty cool, but I do wish they would have had clothes from their secret identities and maybe a Martian or two for them to fight. I'm also not sure how their capes work since you can't put them on their backs.

Happy 20th Anniversary to Moongem Comics

The following images were created by ChatGPT since I can't draw to save my life. Tell me which superhero and superheroine costume you like.

I'm Tired of Adsense and Blogspot

I have been thinking of moving to another host for I'm tired of Adsense sending emails that I either don't own the site (duh, it's a free host blog) or I'm violating their anti-sex rules (they never tell me which image or post is going against the rules). I'm tired of Blogspot because I'm limited in what I can do. I can't afford my own host so I'm at a loss of what to do.

Toy Tuesday: Funko Kinder Joy Stranger Things Demogorgon Zipper Clip

I picked up four more of the Funko Kinder Joy Stranger Things eggs a few weeks ago. The only new one I got was this Demogorgon zipper Clip. A lot of people of calling it a paperclip because of the flexible protuding clip sticking up out of the top. It makes a very poor paper clip and I'm not sure how well it actually works on a zipper. It can stand up on it's own and is only 1 1/2" tall.
