Super Sunday: Superman Unlimited #3

Superman Unlimited #3 dropped last week and here's the summery: "When the towering terror of Toyman once again terrorizes the streets of Metropolis, Superman and Krypto are on hand to save the day — but in this new world of Kryptonite, even the murdering machinations of Toyman are supercharged with Superman’s Achilles’ heel! It’s a twisted turn of events as the Man of Steel uncovers a game-changing new use for this deadly substance, and it has the capacity to save the world? Plus: Jimmy Olsen moves to Gotham (careful, Jimmy), Tee-Nah of Gorilla City tries to fix Steve Lombard’s laptop (careful, Tee-Nah), and Intergang floods the streets — all in the latest installment of the emerald epic you’ll have to read to believe!"

DC Comics released Krypto: The Last Dog of Krypton #1 yesterday alnd here is the summery: "There will come a day when Krypto stands beside Superman, helping him fight off monsters, aliens, and supervillains — a day when this dog will save his adoptive world thanks to the incredible powers granted him by Earth's strange yellow sun. But he's not there yet. Today, Krypto is a normal puppy on Krypton, spending each happy, snoozy, endless day alongside his family: Jor-El, Lara, and baby Kal-El. Superman Unlimited #1

The Summer of Superman continues this week with the release of Superman Unlimited #1. The cover features Superman, Lois Lane, Krypto, Jonathan Kent aka Superboy, Jimmy Olsen and Zod. The story is basically an excuse for a series of flashbacks. As a bonus, there is a preview of Supergirl #1.

Milk & Bone Presents Superman: A Friendship Unleashed #1

Did you know that if you buy a box of Milk & Bone dog treats that you can get a free comic book featuring Superman and Krypto? The small print calls it Milk & Bone Custom Comic (July 2025) but the cover suggests Milk & Bone Presents Superman: A Friendship Unleashed #1 (sounds better right?). Of course, it's basically a movie tie-in. Shame I don't have a dog anymore so the neighbor's dog will get them.

Cool ad for the Milk & Bone box featuring Krypto:

Summer of Superman Special #1

Happy Superman Day 2025 for Action Comics #1 was published eighty-seven years ago today on April 18, 1938). To celebrate that and the fact that the movie, Superman: Legacy, will be released this summer, DC Comics dropped Summer of Superman Special #1 this week. The story sets up what's to come and I can't wait.

Superboy and Krypto appears in the first part of the story that basically focuses on his relationship with Lana Lang. The second part deals with her wedding with John "Steel" Irons.

DCeased: Hope At World's End #8

DCeased: Hope At World's End #8 is now out from DC Comics. Bobo the Detective Chimp teams up with Ace the Bat-Hound, Comet the Superhorse and Krypto the Superdog to help and protect Amy from the zombies. This is the best issue by far in the series.

Blog Alert: Jon's Random Acts of Geekery Is Back

Yes, Jon's Random Acts of Geekery is officially back today with a cool new magazine-style look. Articles include an amazing collection of Krypto items, a complete Golden Age tale from Mister Mystery #10, monster stuff featuring the Groovie Goolies, a Wheaties giveaway comic featuring Captain Marvel, a look at TV's The Land of the Giants, and an essay on the Fantastic Four. There's so much that I haven't read everything yet.

Red DC Super Friends Party Cup From Hallmark

The local discount store where I work as maintenance started their going out of business sale last week. I picked up a red DC Super Friends party cup from Hallmark on sale for eighty cents instead of the one dollar normal price. The inside of the cup is red while the background is mostly yellow and gold. The DC Super Friends features Aquaman, Hawkman, Superman, Krypto, Flash, Robin, Cyborg, Green Lantern and Batman. This is an all-male team but I would have like to have seen at least Wonder Woman included. Unfortunately, the blue DC Super Friends party cup from Hallmark was already sold out and this was the store's last red one.

Second picture of red DC Super Friends party cup from Hallmark featuring Hawkman, Robin and Superman

Yes, I have been looking for another job since the store is set to close at the end of January 2015.
