Women Wednesday: Photon Funko Pop

Disney Movie Insiders had two new Funko Pops promoting The Marvels movie a few weeks ago. One was Captain Marvel for 800 points and the other was Photon for 500 points. I had enough points to get either one but not both. Since the Photon Funko Pop was for a limited time, I decided to get that one. I'm so glad that I did too because she's awesome and the photos below does not do her justice. There are six figures in this set that includes Captain Marvel, Photon, Ms. Marvel, Dar-Benn, Nick Fury and Prince Yan.

McDonald's Ms. Marvel Mini Figurine

Last Tuesday found me getting another Disney 100 Happy Meal from the local McDonald's. I got the usual cheeseburger, fries and Coke. I also got Stitch and Ms. Marvel mini figurines. The Stitch figurine will probably go to my sister since she loves the little alien. My favorite of the two, of course, is Ms. Marvel. The mini figurine stands at 2 1/4" tall including the clear base. She has both arms raised and her left is all purple to indicate that she is using her powers.

Women Wednesday: The Marvels Happy Meal Box

I did manage to get a couple of undamaged Happy Meal boxes promoting The Marvels movie. On the left side, there are images of the Nick Fury, Captain Marvel, Marvel's Goose and Princess Carol action figures at the top. The majority of the side is devoted to showing how you can put the action figures on your phone or tablet for more fun.

The front of the box features Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Photon and Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. A brief description of their powers is also listed for each of the superheroines. The right side of the Happy Meal box features images of Kree-Supremor Dar-Benn, Ms. Marvel, Photon, Captain Marvel and Prince Yan on the top. The majority of that side is taken up by the scan code to power up your toy at the Happy Meal website.

Women Wednesday: Ms. Marvel vs Dar-Benn from The Marvels

I don't always keep track of what's new with the Happy Meal toys so I was surprised a few weeks ago when I ordered one and found out that it was based on The Marvels movie. I got Kamala Kahn aka Ms. Marvel, which is number five of eight. You push the button in the back of her head and her right arm moves side to side. You can also rotate her left arm all the way round. Iman Vellani reprises her role as Ms. Marvel in the movie, which is cool because I really enjoyed her in the tv series. I picked up another Happy Meal the following week and got number eight, which is Kree Supremor Dar-Benn. You can rotate a wheel on her back to move her right arm and weapon all the way round. Her left arm rotates too but her hair stops it from going all the way. Dar-Benn is played by Zawe Ashton in the movie.

Marvel Super Hero Adventures Sticker #10: Spider-Man and the Avengers

There are a lot of characters on this Marvel Super Hero Adventures Sticker #10: Spider-Man and the Avengers. There is Spider-Man and his amazing friends, Gwen Stacey aka Spider-Gwen and Miles Morales aka the Ultimate Spider-Man. The Avengers are represented by the Hulk, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Black Panther, Antman, Ms. Marvel, Wasp and Iron Man. Whew, that's a lot of characters for a vending machine sticker based on a Disney cartoon series.

Women Wednesday: Marvel Super Hero Adventures Sticker #8: Ms. Marvel

I could have posted this yesterday but I thought it would make for a good Women Wednesday post. Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel is featured on Marvel Super Hero Adventures Sticker #8. She is voiced by Aliza Vellani on the Disney Channel cartoon (fans of CW's iZombie will know her as Marcy Khan). I have yet to read any comics or seen any cartoons with this version of Ms. Marvel.

The Mighty Avengers #2 (2007)

The Mighty Avengers #2 (2007) from Marvel Comics is the seventh comic book that was in the Ollie's grab bag. The story features Wonder Man, Ms. Marvel, Sentry, Black Widow, Ares and Wasp battling a nude woman that stepped out of the recently killed Iron Man. She turns out to be Ultron that has taken on the form of Janet Van Dyne aka the Wasp. Yes, it's a pretty weird issue, which is probably why this is the first issue of the series that I have ever read.

Marvel's Avengers 5 Gum Packs

I finally broke down last month and picked up two Marvel's Angers 5 gum packs at the local Walmart's. Every pack has a code that unlocks in-game content and they came out in 2020. Unfortunately, I don't have the game so I can't use the codes but I did enjoy the gum. Both packs features Captain America and Iron Man but the peppermint pack also has Ms. Marvel while the spearmint also has Thor. The peppermint pack has a small image of Black Widow inside under the code while the spearmint pack has a small image of the Hulk. I'm not sure if the inside images provide a clue to what type of content that the code unlocks or not. For more information, check out Marvel's Avengers Teams With 5 Gum.

Marvel Avengers Milk Chocolate Hearts Box

This small Marvel Avengers Milk Chocolate Hearts Box was originally sold for a dollar at the local Walmart's this year but I picked it up for half price this Sunday. There were six red foil wrapped milk chocolate hearts inside. The front of the box when folded was the heart that included full color drawings of Captain America, Ms. Marvel and Iron Man. The lower left side of the box features the Hulk and an actual image of a milk chocolate heart.

The upper left of the box features Black Panther while the upper right features Thor. Both sides also includes a photo of a milk chocolate heart. Thor's side is also the opening while Black Panther's side is glued shut (I took it apart for easier scanning).

Women Wednesday: Ms. Marvel Promoted To Captain Marvel

Marvel Comics will be promoting Carol Danvers aka Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel with a new costume and a new series that will start in July. You can read Ms. Marvel Gets Promoted to 'Captain Marvel' in New Series [Wondercon] for more information and previews.

Women of Marvel Magazine

Ms Marvel graces the cover of the Women of Marvel magazine (Spring 2010). The issue has a mix of articles, pin ups and comic reprints that celebrates seven decades of women from Timely/Marvel Comics. The first article is titled "Witches, Widows and Warrior Women" by Robert Greenberger that is a retrospective of Marvel's females through the decades. That is followed by the first appearance of the Black Widow from Timely's Mystic Comics #4. The next article is titled "Female Creators Through the Ages" by Robert Greenberger. A Q&A with Flo Steinberg and "Bring on the Bad Girls" by Valerie D'Orazio follows.

A reprint of Tales of Suspense #52 that features the first modern appearance of Black Widow against Iron Man is included. Sarah Jaffe then interviews editor Jeanine Schaefer about Girl Comics, a new anthology title featuring tales of Marvel super heroes created entirely by women. There is even a two page preview of Girl Comics featuring Doctor Octopus grocery shopping. A reprint of Savage She-Hulk #1 follows. Will Panzo writes about "America's Next Top Mutant Model" and "X-Love". A reprint of The Uncanny X-Men #201 is next. Finally, Kiel Phegley takes a look at "The Unstoppable Spider-Girl". The last page states that Marvel will be celebrating their greatest super heroines with one-short specials that features X-23, Sif, Firestar, Dazzler, Rescue, Namora, Lady Deadpool, Spitfire and Valkyrie. There will also be variant covers by Jelena Kevic Djurdjevic that spotlights the Women of Marvel.
