Dollar Tree Superman Playing Cards Part Two

Today we continue to look at the deck of Superman Playing Cards that I recently picked up at the local Dollar Tree. The Three of Clubs playing card features Superman battling Lex Luthor in his battlesuit.

Wonder Woman guest stars with Superman on the Queen of Clubs playing card:

Aquaman guest stars on the Four of Diamonds playing card while Batman appears on the Five of Diamonds. The Trinity (Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman) appears on the Seven of Diamonds playing card. Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz) and Wonder Woman guest star on the Nine of Diamonds playing card.

Goodnight Gene Hackman

More sad news for Hollywood legend Gene Hackman dies aged 95, the Oscar-winning star of Superman, The French Connection, and Unforgiven. He was found yesterday along with his wife Betsy Arakawa, 63, and their dog. He will always be Lex Luthor to me and he will be greatly missed.

DC Comics Ooshies Lex Luthor Translucent Pencil Topper

Beware for this DC Comics Ooshies Lex Luthor Translucent pencil topper will multiply during any eclipses. His entire battle armor is a translucent green with purple highlights that looks great lighted up. I now have five of him because I picked up a dozen more mystery bags this morning. One of the bags had two Lex Luthors in it.

Superhero Sunday: JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time

I did a little shopping at the local Dollar Tree yesterday morning and found this odd superhero movie. JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time is a original movie that came out on DVD in 2014 and is not based on any comic book. It opens with the Justice League of America that includes Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Robin, Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman battling the Legion of Doom that includes Lex Luthor, Toyman, Black Mantra, Solomon Grundy, Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, Cheetah and Bizarro fighting in the Arctic. The Super Friends...er, JLA defeats the Legion of Doom but Lex Luthor is presumed dead.
Jump to the 31st Century where the teenage Dawnstar and Karate Kid are taking a tour of a superhero museum where Lex Luthor is encased in a block of ice. Karate Kid thinks they should already be members of the Legion of Super-Heroes and decides to show off. He acts like he is going to punch the block of ice holding Luthor but stops short. Of course, the ice breaks anyway and the super villain awakes from his suspended animation sleep. He watches a hologram video of Superman's origins and finds that he is actually Clark Kent. Lex steals the hourglass belonging to the trapped Time Trapper and goes back in time with Dawnstar and Karate Kid following.
Lex Luthor gathers most of the Legion of Doom because Captain Cold, Black Mantra and Gorilla Grodd decided to pass. Dawnstar and Karate Kid overhear Luthor's plans before sneaking out of the Legion of Doom's flying helmet headquarters that was floating in a swamp. The teenage superhero wannabes make their way to the Hall of Justice but Robin attacks them. The Super Friends...er, JLA break up the fight and hear what the future superhero wannabes have to say. I won't spoil the rest here but it basically deals with the Legion of Doom going back to Smallville to prevent the Kents from taking in baby Kal El.

I could swear that I was watching a bizarre episode of the Super Friends except for the different costumes and personalities of Superman (no trunks), Batman (angrier), Robin (attitude), Wonder Woman (sword and skirted armor) and Aquman (short sleeves). Even Dawnstar and Karate Kid were a lot different looking than they were in the 1970s. Despite the changes, I actually found myself enjoying the animated movie more than I thought I would. There are some funny moments especially when the Legion of Doom tries to take Superbaby and send him back into space. If you want an oddity to your collection of superhero cartoons, then you might want to get a copy here.

DC Villains Pop-Tarts

Earlier today, I picked up a box of DC Villains Pop-Tarts at the local Walmarts. The flavor is chocolate sugar cookie so I'm not really in a rush to eat them. Lex Luthor, the Joker, Catwoman, Bane and Captain Cold adorn the box along with a few others in a line up on the back.

I wonder if DC Super Girls Pop-Tarts will be coming soon. If so, I hope they pick a good flavor for it.

Fall Catchup

Today is the first full day of fall so I thought I better do some catching up.

First off, I will be partaking in this year's Countdown To Halloween. I'm not sure if I will be making daily posts this time around but I will try. Also, the posts may be of a little different this year.

The local Wally World has stocked a few boxes of DC Pops figurines from Funko and I have picked up eight of them. So far, I have two Deadshots, a Lex Luthor, a Martian Manhunter, a Batman, a Green Lantern, a White Lantern and a Power Girl. I like them and I will probably be picking up some more when I can. I really want the Wonder Woman one.

Superman the Animated Series Stickers from 1997

This is a one sheet of stickers featuring characters from Superman: The Animated Series and was printed by Sandylion in Canada:
Superman the Animated Series stickers from 1997
The character stickers include Superman, Lex Luthor, Brainac, Darkseid and giant robot. They are nice stickers but I would have liked one of Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and Clark Kent. Other stickers included are stars, planets and the S shield. I believe it was originally attached to other sheets of stickers since the top and bottom both have perforated edges. I believe they were originally sold at Hobby Lobby as scrapbook stickers.

Sexy Saturday: DC Comics Bombshells #13

While I love Wonder Woman on the cover of DC Comics Bombshells #13, she does not appear in this issue.
Cover of DC Comics Bombshells #13 featuring Wonder Woman
Selina DiGatti aka Catwoman does appear in this issue.
Page 1 of DC Comics Bombshells #13 featuring Selina DiGatti aka Catwoman
This issue is mostly about Kate Kane aka Batwoman in 1940 Berlin.
Page 4 of DC Comics Bombshells #13 featuring Kate Kane aka Batwoman
She meets Alexander Luthor, who warns her about Selina before introducing them to each other at a party at her mansion. Catwoman gets Batwoman alone and warns her to watch herself before taking her to a group of upper crusts that is waiting for Edel Nacht aka Brother Night to begin a gruesome ceremony. He uncovers the body of a dead Nazi soldier moments before the Joker's Daughter arrives. She takes off a purple glove to show that most of her arm is black. Black energy radiates from her hand as she sings. The black energy goes into the dead soldier. He sits up before Brother Night commands him to recite the Reichswehreid. He does before the Joker's Daughter claims him to be the first of the Tenebrae and that the true war begins.

New Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer Released

But you have to go here to watch it for the video is way too big for this blog. I'm not really digging Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman is shown way too briefly. It's a wonder that Batman can actually move in his battle suit.

Convergence: Action Comics #1

The cover of Convergence: Action Comics #1 (June 2015) features Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman and Superman from Earth 30 (the official home of characters in the Superman: Red Son mini-series) along with Superman, Power Girl and Lois Lane from pre-Crisis Earth 2. The story actually switches back and forth between Moscow and Metropolis.
Cover of Convergence: Action Comics #1 from DC Comics
My favorite part of this issue is Power Girl. She has been shacking up with Andrew for the past year while under the dome. The loss of her superpowers has not been kind to her since she is gaining weight and having health issues that we all have. She flashbacks to her glory days of fighting the likes of the Ultra-Humanite and Solomon Grundy:
Page 15 of Convergence: Action Comics #1 from DC Comics
I have always been a fan of the pre-Crisis Earth 2 so this is one of my favorite issues in the Convergence event. I wish all of the other issues would have switched back and forth between the two cities that are going to do battle with each other.

Women Wednesday: Convergence: Supergirl Matrix #1

Convergence: Supergirl Matrix #1 (June 2015) has a nice cover:
Cover of Convergence: Supergirl Matrix #1 from DC Comics
But that can't be said about page one when we get a look under the Supergirl's skirt:
Page 1 of Convergence: Supergirl Matrix #1 from DC Comics
Most of the issue deals with the redheaded Lex Luthor calling Supergirl names and Lady Quark arguing with Lord Volt. The latter two are from Electropolis. Their daughter, Princess Fern, appears in Convergence: Green Lantern Parallax #1. I did like the surprise appearance of a certain bug on the last page.

Superman Jumbo Coloring And Activity Book From 2010

I picked up the Superman Jumbo Coloring And Activity Book last week at the local Dollar General for one dollar plus tax. This was published in 2010 by Bendon International, Inc. Basically, the coloring pages are pin-ups of Superman, Clark Kent and Lex Luthor in different poses. The activity pages includes mazes, word scramble, finish the picture, squares, color and cut jigsaw puzzle, follow the path, tic-tac-toe, Kryptonium key (translate Kyptonian words into English) and draw (Lex Luthor and the s-shield log). The back cover has stand-ups of Lex Luthor and Superman that can be cut out. Not bad artwork for a dollar since this is pre-52 Superman.

Mini Cup Sticker Set

I posted about the Superman Mini Cups 1979 a few weeks ago. I found the entire mini cup sticker set on sale at eBay earlier. The twelve stickers are from 1979 and feature Superman, Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Riddler, Joker and Penguin. The mini cups and stickers were found in quarter vending machines.
