Unfortunately, we interrupt the Countdown to Halloween with sad news. According to 'Tarzan' star Ron Ely dead at 86. He is best known for starring in the NBC tv series, Tarzan (1966-1968), and the 1975 Doc Savage, Man of Bronze movie.

Doc Savage #1 Coming In December
From Dynamite Entertainment For December:
Written by Chris Roberson, art by Bilquis Evely, cover(s) by Alex Ross, Stephen Segovia
In 1933, readers were first introduced to Doc Savage, the Man of Bronze. Raised from the cradle to be the pinnacle of mental and physical perfection, Doc Savage travels the world using science and sinews to right wrongs, aid the oppressed, and liberate the innocent. With his team of able associates at their headquarters high atop the tallest building in the world, Doc Savage is tireless in his pursuit of knowledge and justice. Writer Chris Roberson brings Doc Savage from 1933 through to today. And with "Easter eggs" along the way that will help pave the future of Doc.
32 pages, $3.99.

DC Comics Bids Adieu To The Spirit, Doc Savage And The Avenger
DC Comics Loses Rights To 'The Spirit,' 'Doc Savage' and 'The Avenger' pretty much sums it up. I agree that Dynamite Entertainment should jump on the characters since their visions of The Shadow and The Spider are pretty good.

Super Thrift Store Finds: Books And More
I went to three local thrift stores yesterday morning and left with several items from two of them. I picked up six books including Hrolf Krakes Saga by Poul Anderson, Night's Black Agents by Fritz Leiber, The Casebook of Jules de Grandin by Seabury Quinn, Doc Savage #32: Dust of Death, Doc Savage #45: The Men Who Smiled No More and Doc Savage #51: Haunted Ocean.

I found two Spider-Man Christmas ornaments:

I picked up a Joker mobile from Corgi:

Finally, I found an Incredible Hulk toothbrush holder (minus the cup)

Total price for all of these super thrift store finds was a little over four dollars.

Batman Teaming Up With Doc Savage
DC Universe: The Source has posted about the Batman/Doc Savage Special coming this November. This is not the first time that the Dark Knight have teamed up with a pulp character. He teamed up with the Shadow in Batman #253 (November 1973). The Dark Knight is teaming up with the Man of Bronze thirty-six years after that famous team up.
I would really like to see a team up between Superman and Doc Savage.

Sam Raimi's Pulp Project
I really hope that the rumors of Sam Raimi's Pulp Project is true. I would love to see Doc Savage teaming up The Shadow and The Avenger. I also would love to see other pulp characters from Street and Smith Publications join them such as The Whisperer, Nick Carter and The Wizard.
