Sexy Sunday: DC Comics Bombshells #18

The cover of DC Comics Bombshells #18 is the same cover as #16 featuring Batwoman and Catwoman while page one features Stargirl riding a bomb with the credits. This issue is part 9 of 9 so that means it's the last issue. Bare with me because there is a lot to follow in this one issue.

DC Comics Bombshells #18 starts with Mera talking with Stargirl and Supergirl on a battleship while Commander Waller arrives along with Big Barda and Dr. Hoshi aka Dr. Light. Hoshi gives the Soviet superheroines new uniforms that they object to because they do not want to be poster girls. Stargirl uses her cosmic staff to change their uniforms from red to blue. The sisters fly off probably to save their father.

Next, we catch up with Kate Kane aka the Batwoman riding in a white car with Catwoman and Lex Luthor in Berlin when they are hit by a black vehicle. Brother Night steps out demanding that they hand over Kate. She grabs her baseball bat and is ready for action.

The issue then switches to a prison camp in Greece where Wonder Woman is being held captive. Steve Trevor is trying to talk her into apologizing to General Lane. She refuses and breaks the bars intent on getting them both out of there.
Page 12 from DC Comics Bombshells #18 featuring Wonder Woman
In France, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are killing Nazi zombies while riding in a truck. Harley is singing about their exploits in a bizarre Christmas song.
Page 14 from DC Comics Bombshells #18 featuring Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy
The final section features Zatanna in Berlin reminiscing with Constantine, who is still a rabbit. He changes the subject to how she is on the wrong side. Zatanna explains how the Joker's Daughter saved her during the first purge since she had a Jewish father and a Romani mother. Constantine tells her that she is more powerful than she realizes and that the Joker's Daughter is using her as a battery. He tells her that Amanda Waller sent him there to find something that may be hiding in the cabaret. She tells him how the rooms moves and she has the feeling that something is watching her. He promises her that he will get her out somehow and together they can change the tide.

I won't give away the final page except to say that the Joker's Daughter makes a creepy appearance. This issue feels more like they are leading each into their own series, which I hope happens. I can't wait to read more adventures of these women.

Tasty Tuesday: DC Comics Bombshells #16

Batwoman and Catwoman are featured on the cover on DC Comics Bombshells #16, which is odd because neither of them appear in this issue. It does feature Mera on the first page which is the same artwork found on #4.

The issue starts with her defeating a German u-boat with an alien crew with the help of two whales while she sings.
Page 7 of DC Comics Bombshells #16 featuring Mera aka Aquawoman
Mera is actually called Aquawoman by sailors on the HMS Winston. She gets friendly with three sailors, who all show her pictures of their sweethearts. Two "missiles" appear in the sky and she leaps into action only to find out that they are Supergirl and Stargirl. Aquawoman starts battling Supergirl for she has no clue as to who they are.

Stargirl speaks English and tells Mera their story briefly and asks her to hide them. She introduces them to the captain and promises the sisters that they don't have to run anymore.

Swamp Thing From DC Comics Bombshells #15

DC Comics Bombshells #15 finds Supergirl and Stargirl going back to their home village in hopes of saving their mother and father. Unfortunately, they arrive too late for their parents are captives of Soviet General Arkayn. While Supergirl is confronting him and his soldiers, Stargirl brings in a heavy hitter to help them in the form of Swamp Thing.

The sisters fly off with their parents but the Night Witches arrive to do battle.

Unfortunately, Supergirl drops her father but he is saved and captured by the Night Witches. He tells them to fly away while they can. They leave with their mother.

Sexy Sunday: DC Comics Bombshells #10

The cover of DC Comics Bombshells #10 features Harley Quinn waving while riding a bomb:
Cover of DC Comics Bombshells #10 featuring Harley Quinn
The first page features Stargirl in a classic pinup style:
Page 1 of DC Comics Bombshells #10 featuring Stargirl
The second page is a propaganda poster introducing the Supergirl and the Stargirl Defenders of the Motherland:
Page 2 of DC Comics Bombshells #10 featuring Supergirl and Stargirl
The third page features Kara Starikov, Woman of Steel, actually bending a steel beam along with Kortni Duginovna, of the Cosmic Staff, flying on her cosmic staff designed by her father:
Page 2 of DC Comics Bombshells #10 featuring Supergirl and Stargirl
There are more propaganda poster-like pages inside DC Comics Bombshells #10. Supergirl and Stargirl refuse to kill Nazi pilots as they fight them in the air. They are then sent to destroy what they believe is a Nazi war camp but is actually a Soviet prison. They turn on the Night Witches and collect their bombs as they fall. After they dispose of the bombs, they land in the Soviet prison and find out that the people are there for disobedience, sedition and political unrest. The ending is pretty heavy as the two super women realize what is going on.

Sexy Saturday: DC Comics Bombshells #5

This should have been the cover to DC Comics Bombshells #5 instead of the Wonder Woman and Mera cover that was also on #4:
Page 2 of DC Comics Bombshells #5
After being called a traitor by the leader of the Soviet's Night Witches, Kara Starikov puts up a fight. Not only does she fly but she also seems to be bulletproof. Unfortunately, she is forced to surrender when her sister, Kortni Duginovna, is held captive. They are brought before a group of generals that will decide what to do with her. Kara tells them that she came from the stars while her adopted mother was pregnant with Kortni. When asked about her abilities, she tells them that she has strength, speed, invulnerable skin and recently flight. Kara is asked to demonstrate her powers and she does by using her heat vision on the chandelier, which causes the room to go dark. When the room is bathed in light again, she is shown next to a mural featuring her and Kortni wearing costumes. They are then given the names Supergirl and Stargirl.

Sexy Saturday: DC Comics Bombshells #3

DC Comics Bombshells #3 is set in Moscow during WWII and spotlights two very familiar blondes. Kara Starikov is obviously a combination of Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl and Kara Starr aka Powergirl while Kortni Duginovna is Courtney Whitmore aka Stargirl (or just Star). They were raised on a farm by a mother who told them fairy tales while their father was an ex-cosmonaut and supposedly a traitor. They are both recruits for the Night Witches, women bombers of the Soviet Union. A Russian soldier hits on the two girls, Kara knocks him on his butt with a thump on his forehead. After months of training, they finally take to the air but Kortni's plane catches fire and Kara saves her. Unfortunately, all the other Night Witches including their trainer/leader witness the event and label them as traitors.

I had a hard time telling them apart so I'm not sure if they are supposed to be twins or not. It's a good issue but still not as great as the first one.
