February is Black History Month and DC Comics released DC Power #1 yesterday. On the cover are eight black superheroes in the DC Universe. There are ten stories in this anthology one-shot special. First up is "Enduring Farewells" featuring Green Lanterns John Stewart and Jo Mullein. Next is "The Spice of Life" featuring Black Lightning's daughters Thunder and Lightning (Steel and his daughter are guest stars). Raphael Arce aka Bloodwynd aka the Superman from Hell stars int he third story titled "Pit Stop" (this one is my favorite). "Pure Blackness" features Calvin Ellis aka the black Superman of Earth-2. The fifth story is titled "Lost at Sea" and features Black Manta. Crispus Allen aka the Spectre stars in "The Session" (Renee Montoya aka the Question guest stars making this my second favorite story). "The Natural Order" sees Nubia helping Mr. Mxyzptlk. Kid Flash is featured in "Jump Shots and Loose Watts" (Red Arrow appears towards the end). Mister Terrific is the focus of "Fair Play." The Signal fights Chronus and takes a trip to the future in "The Light That Shines" (my third favorite story). As an added bonus, there are Who's Who files on Val-Zod (Calvin Ellis), Black Manta, the Spectre, Mister Terrific and the Signal. Overall, this was an enjoyable special collection of stories.

Thrift Store Find: McDonald's Black Manta
I picked up another Black Manta action figure from the 2011 McDonald's Young Justice Happy Meals toy line (you can read about my first one here). He was in the second bag full of figures that I picked up at a local thrift store for a quarter. I took some more decent pictures this time around.

Thrift Store Finds: Black Manta
I actually found this Black Manta action figure at a local thrift store with four other toys in a bag for fifty cents. He is from the McDonald's Young Justice Happy Meal that was released earlier this year. His eyes light up red when you push a button in his back and you can move his arms.
Yes, I know that I titled him as Black Mantra instead of Black Manta when I saved the file and I did not catch it until after I uploaded the picture.
