Countdown to Valentine's Day 2021 Day 9: DC Love Is A Battlefield 80-page Giant #1

"BLAM! KRACK! POW! Look out-it’s…love?! Falling in love is rough, even for DC’s greatest. Watch as Batman and Catwoman, Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, Mister Miracle and Big Barda, and all the rest of your OTPs fight in vain against the all-powerful forces of romance (and super-villains)! Even Amanda Waller fights the urge to bail on her mystery date. We guarantee that this Valentine’s Day, someone’s taking a shot to the heart-from Cupid’s bow!"

Characters and stories featured in DC Love Is A Battlefield 80-page Giant #1 include: Batman and Catwoman in "Perfect Matches", Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor in "Bittersweet", Amanda Waller and Perry White in "Loose Lips", Kid Flash and Red Arrow in "A Tale of Two Titans", Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy in "The Beginning", Hawkman and Hawkwoman in "Together Forever", Mister Miracle and Big Barda in "Anniversary", Nightwing and Starfire in "Ex-Position", Sgt. Rock in "Able" and John Stewart and Fatality in "The Heart Wants".

I just received the latest offers from Sonic in my inbox and they are now offering Teen Titans Go! Costume Figures in their Wacky Packs. This would have been so cool to have during the month of October to, you know, help celebrate Halloween. Yes, I still want to have them anyway.

Convergence: The Titans #2

The cover of Convergence: The Titans #2 (July 2015) is pretty cool with Arsenel, Starfire and Donna Troy battling Dreamslayer of the Extremists:

Arsenal leaves the main fight with his daughter, Lian. Dreamslayer follows them to Roy's bunker. They start battling for Lian's existence:
The issue switches back and forth from Roy's battle to the rest of the Titans battling the rest of the Extremists:
Overall, the story was good but not great. The interior artwork was better than expected. I felt like I was reading the second issue of The Titans battling the Extremists with touching moments between father and daughter. It did have a happy ending with everybody but Arsenal heading to the main fight in Convergence #6.

Convergence: The Titans #1

Convergence: The Titans #1 (June 15) should really have been titled Convergence: Arsenal #1 because the issue is mostly about the pre-Flashpoint Roy Harper aka Speedy aka Arsenal. Sure, Donna Troy aka Wonder Girl aka Darkstar (I think she had more identities than Roy) and Starfire also appear but they take a back seat to Roy's whining about having one arm. His daughter, Lian, is still dead. The issue never explains what they were doing in Gotham City when the dome came down in the first place. Roy built a secret weapons arsenal and tapped into the communication lines.

Donna Troy and Starfire fly together again straight towards the supervillain group known as the Extremists that consists of Gorgon, Lord Havok, Dreamslayer, Tracer and Diehard:

The end of the issue leaves on a rather unsettling cliffhanger that I won't spoil here.

Even the Who's Who two pager is all about Arsenal:
Who's Who from Convergence: The Titans #1 is all about Arsenal
I was never fond of how Roy was treated towards the end of the pre-Flashpoint era of DC Comics. I think he deserved better then and now. Maybe he will in the next issue but I rather see more of Donna Troy and Starfire.

Big Changes At DC Comics This June Includes New Look and Series For Starfire

Very interesting news at DC Reveals Major Changes, New Direction For Comic Book Line for the new 52 brand will no longer be used starting in June. Sure, the rebooted DC Universe will stay but stories will play a bigger part. There will be twenty-four new first issues joining twenty-five existing titles. Included in the new titles will be Black Canary, Harley Quinn/Power Girl and Starfire, who gets a new look:
New look and series for Starfire coming this June from DC Comics
There will be more humor titles including Bizarro, Bat-Mite and Prez. Fans of grittier comics will still find plenty to read including a revamped John Constantine series titled Constantine: The Hellblazer (in related news his tv series has yet to be renewed) plus Section Eight, which will have characters from the Hitman series. Naturally, a new Justice League of America series will be launched. Earth 2 is one of several titles getting revamped and the new series will be Earth 2: Society (I hope this means that the Justice Society is returning in one form or another).

Merry Christmas 2014: Red Hood and the Outlaws Annual #2

Merry Christmas and as a special treat, here is a special peek at Red Hood and the Outlaws Annual #2 (February 2015):

"...Yule Be DEAD For Christmas!" is the story's title:

A special pin-up page featuring Red Hood and the Outlaws with Batman as special guest star:

The first three chapters are the best since they take a wicked look at Christmas while the fourth and final chapter has a nice twist that explains the weirdness. I almost passed this one up since I thought it would all be doom and gloom. I was surprised at the fun that it poked at Christmas plus having Batman in a cameo was great too. Even if you are not a fan of the series, I would recommend picking up Red Hood and the Outlaws Annual #2.
