PCH Comic Collection

My Classic Comic Collection 6-Pack from PCH (Publishers Clearing House) arrived in the mail yesterday. The package was in an over sized padded envelope. I received six comics and a unopened package of stickers instead of actual trading cards.

First up is Superman #78 with a bonus Man of Tomorrow poster and a die-cut cover:

I actually don't have this issue but I do have #77 and #81.

I have no issues of Top Cow/Image's Battle of the Planets #3 so this was a pleasant surprise:

I only have a few comics from Continuity Comics and Earth 4 Deathwatch 2000 #3 is not one of them. In fact, I don't have any in that series or the first Earth 4 series. The kicker for me was the cool Firebat trading card that came with it. The issue has a wraparound cover but I'm only showing the front cover:

Too bad that CyberForce #25 is not from the original series. This is from volume two with a chromium wraparound cover but I'm only showing the front cover:

Sweet, a Jonny Quest #23 from Comico that also has a wraparound cover (yep, you guessed it, I'm only showing the front):

Finally, I received The 'Nam from Marvel Comics (I needed this issue for I have #1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 14, 22, 49, and 50):

I was a little bummed out about getting Batman Forever Movie Photo Stickers instead of actual trading cards. I received #5, 10, 43, 50, and 67.

Overall, not a bad selection of comics since I didn't have any of them plus two helped fill some holes in my collection. I do wish that the stickers were actual trading cards but at least they were from Batman Forever and not My Little Pony or something even worse. However, I doubt that I will order another grab bag like this from PCH anytime soon.

Goodnight Dick Giordano

Dick Giordano has died today at the age of 77 according to Newsarama and Who Arted?. The legendary inker, artist and editor that worked at Charlton Comics, DC Comics and Continuity Associates studios (he was Neal Adams' partner in the latter). He launched Future Comics with the help of writer David Michelinie and artist Bob Layton. His team up work with Neal Adams on Batman and Green Arrow/Green Lantern during the late 1960s and early 1970s are highly recommended.

Megalith #1

Megalith #1 (1989) from Continuity Comics starts with Joe Majurac in Beiruit, Lebanon facing a group of terrorists. He enters a building to save a boy's life only to have debris fall on him. While the strong man is trapped, he recounts his origin as being trained by his German captors as a super human. Not only does he has a massive muscular body but a mind-body link. He escapes to find refuge with the U.S. Army who does tests on him. He finally meets Commander Grantland, who also has the mind-body link skill/power. At the end, Megalith is brought back to the present and is able to push the debris off himself.

Armor #12

I picked up a few titles from Neal Adams' Continuity Comics when they first came out. Among the titles were Amor #1, Revengers #1, Samuree #1 and #2, Toyboy #1 and Zero Patrol #1 and #2. I still have those packed away in comic collection.

On my last road trip, I picked up Armor #12 (March 1992). The first ten pages deal with aliens fighting on the Great Library planet. The action then shifts to earth as alien assassins attack Armor, Silver Streak and the alien Go-Gog.

Bucky O'Hare Film

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Neal Adams has launched Buzzworthy, a production company to focus on his film projects. He wants to direct and produce Bucky O'Hare as a CGI animated film.

I am hoping that future film projects will include Ms. Mystic, Samuree and Valeria the SheBat, which are my three favorite characters from Continuity Comics.
