Absolute Martian Manhunter #1

All I can say about Absolute Martian Manhunter #1 from DC Comics is that it was really trippy. The colors are amazing. There are six variant covers but I'm only showing cover A in this post.

Yes, we get to see the family of the FBI Agent John Jones. I'm really digging his son as seen on this page:

Imaginext DC Super Friends Series 1 Martian Manhunter

I picked up three more DC Super Friends Series 1 mystery bags this morning. Naturally, one of them was Blue Beetle, which I already have. Luckily, I managed to get a Martian Manhunter. He's pretty cool looking for he has a cloth cape. However, his accessory is a little lame for it's basically a clear stand that you plug in to the hole in the bottom of one of his feet. I guess the purpose it to make it look like he's floating. All the other action figures got something to put in their hands. Poor Martian Manhunter got an accessory that you put in his foot. Guess who gets to float in the back when it's time to display them all?

Imaginext DC Super Friends Series 1 Wrapper and Insert

I picked up three Imaginext DC Super Friends Series 1 mystery bags on Tuesday at the local Walmart's. Each package was $4.72, and they only had less than a dozen left. I didn't even see these before so I'm not exactly sure when they were stocked but the insert has a 2023 copyright date. Each action figure comes with an accessory.

The wrapper shows Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman in the lower left-hand corner. I'm only showing the front of the wrapper because the back is too shiny for my scanner to pick up the small print.

The outer side of the insert also shows Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman along with a gorilla with a battle axe, a female Troll and dinosaurs.

The inner side of the insert is the checklist for all nine action figures in the Imaginext DC Super Friends Series 1 set. The set includes Swamp Thing, Bane, Man-Bat, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Superboy Prime, Bizarro, Aquaman and Blue Beetle. Swamp Thing and Bane as glow in the dark features. Notice that there is a Batman action figure but no Superman and Wonder Woman figures.

Fall Catchup

Today is the first full day of fall so I thought I better do some catching up.

First off, I will be partaking in this year's Countdown To Halloween. I'm not sure if I will be making daily posts this time around but I will try. Also, the posts may be of a little different this year.

The local Wally World has stocked a few boxes of DC Pops figurines from Funko and I have picked up eight of them. So far, I have two Deadshots, a Lex Luthor, a Martian Manhunter, a Batman, a Green Lantern, a White Lantern and a Power Girl. I like them and I will probably be picking up some more when I can. I really want the Wonder Woman one.

Convergence #7

The cover of Convergence #7 (July 2015) features many of the DC superheroes attacking Deimos as he throttles Telos:

The highlight of this issue is seeing the different versions of Superman, Supergirl and Martian Manhunter in the multiverse:

Leave it to Hal Jordan as Parallax to get mad and destroy Deimos. Kind of a let down because I think Travis Morgan aka the Warlord should have been the one to kill him.

Convergence: Justice League International #1

Convergence: Justice League International #1 (June 2015) has a nice cover:
Cover of Convergence: Justice League International #1 from DC Comics
Metallo is walking down a street of the pre-zero hour Metropolis causing destruction to the city along with his drones. The Justice League International shows up to kick their butt. Blue Beetle introduces them more like the Justice League Metropolis since they have been trapped under the dome for a year. This team includes Blue Beetle, Red Tornado, Martian Manhunter, Captain Atom, Fire and Ice.

The dome rises and they get their powers back just in time for the Kingdom Come Justice League shows up. This team consists of Wonder Woman, Shazam (I guess he's no longer Captain Marvel in that alternate universe either), Obsidian, Nightstar, Jade, Huntress, Creeper and Blue Beetle.

Thrift Store Find: Red Justice (Justice League Book)

I found Red Justice by Michael Teitelbaum (Bantam, March 2003) yesterday afternoon at a local thrift store for fifty cents. This is based on the Justice League cartoon series from a few years ago. The back cover has the following text:

"Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, The Flash, Martian Manhunter. Together they are the Justice League - sever super heroes working together to save the world. Red Justice. The Justice League has been called to the Ural Mountains in Russia to shut down a decaying nuclear reactor - but in doing so they also cut off the power to a long-forgotten cryogenic lab hidden dep underground. There, a group of genetically engineered meta-humans are accidentally revived. Code-named Red Dawn, they are endowed with powers that rival those of the Justice League, threatening its very existence. Has the League really met its match?"

Justice League Of America Celebrating Christmas

An actual plate featuring the Justice League of America celebrating Christmas as drawn by Alex Ross. I like how Batman is peeking in the window while the Martian Manhunter is clinking glasses with Red Tornado. Aquaman seems either bored or standoffish.

Justice League Plus Spider-Man

Here are my ten inch Batman, Superman, Martian Manhunter and Green Latern action figures from Justice League line plus a slighter larger Spider-Man (they are standing on and surrounding my stack of cassette cases next to my stereo). All were found at the local thrift stores in the past few years. I'm hoping to find the large Aquaman, Atom, Green Arrow and Wonder Woman action figures one of these days.

In the upper left-hand corner, you can see part of my Batman Superman two pack that I actually found at the local Wal-Mart's a few years ago. I might get around to taking a picture and posting it here soon.
