Women Wednesday: What if...? Jessica Jones #1

Marvel released What If...? Jessica Jones #1 a few weeks ago. Here is the official summary:

"WHAT IF…JESSICA JONES WAS BITTEN BY THE RADIOACTIVE SPIDER? Teenage Super-Hero Sensation SPIDER-GIRL is retired. Surly and eternally miffed bartender JESSICA JONES wants nothing more than to leave that part of her life and the traumas that came with it firmly behind her. But when a ghost from her past comes back to haunt her, she finds herself unable to leave well enough alone. Has the GREEN GOBLIN returned? And if so, is an out-of-shape ex-super hero enough to stop him?"

Superhero Sunday: The Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day #1

Marvel released The Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day #1 last week. Of course, this has lots of variant covers with covers E and G being my favorite. Here is the official summary:

"BRAND NEW BRAND NEW DAY! Spider-Man discovers one of the most valuable items the Kingpin, A.K.A. Wilson Fisk, possesses — THE LEXICON. This directory of the Kingpin’s criminal enterprise could destroy the criminal landscape of New York City and that’s Spider-Man’s goal when he takes it. But Fisk isn’t the only person who wants the Lexicon… Mr. Negative would love his competitor’s secret information, but so would Frank Castle himself, the Punisher. Taking the Lexicon sure seemed like a good idea to make the city safer, but it’s painted the biggest target ever on Spider-Man’s back!"

Superhero Sunday: DC/Marvel: Superman/Spider-Man #1

DC Comics and Marvel released DC/Marvel: Superman/Spider-Man #1 on March 25, 2026. There are eight stories including Superman and Spider-Man in "Truth, Justice and Great Responsibility" followed by Lois Lane and Mary Jane in "The World's Finest" (with special guest star Gambit). Superboy-Prime and Amazing Spider-Man (Peter Parker in black costume) appear in "Pages" followed by Superman and Spider-Man 2099 in "Beyond the Cobwebs of Tomorrow" (with special guest star Batman Beyone). Jimmy Olsen and Carnage in "Jimmy Con Carnage" followed by Jonathan Kent and Ben Parker in "The Bridge." Daily Planet and Daily Bugle in "Bias" followed by Power Girl and the Punisher in "Blind Date."

Here is the official summary:

"When journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker find themselves chasing the same story, the conspiracy they uncover could change the world — especially if Brainiac and Doctor Octopus have anything to say about it. (And we bet they do!) Good thing our intrepid newshounds are secretly Superman and the amazing Spider-Man. Brought to you by legendary storytellers Mark Waid and Jorge Jimenez."

Marvel Holiday Tales to Astonish #1 Cover

Marvel Holiday Tales to Astonish #1 came out yesterday. The cover features Storm, Captain America (the Sam Wilson version), Spider-Man (the Miles Morales version), Kitty Pryde, Doctor Strange, Wolverine, Ben Grimm and Spider-Man (the Peter Parker version). The three stories include the Fantastic Four in "'Twas the Fight Before Christmas", the Uncanny X-Men in "Festival of Fights" and the Spectacular Spider-Men in "Resolutions". Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman and the Human Torch does appear in the Fantastic Four story along with the Thing. Several other Marvel superheroes appear briefly in the first two stories. Shame that none of the stories are centered around Captain America (the Sam Wilson version) or Doctor Strange like the cover suggests. At least, Storm and Wolverine appear more in the X-Men story that is about Kitty Pryde trying to find gifts for her friends.

Countdown to Valentine's Day 2020 Day 5: Spider-Verse Vudu Valentine

I found this free Vudu Valentines offer in my inbox earlier today. You fill out a form to send a free movie themed Valentine’s Day card by mail. You must make your request by February 9 to get it mailed out in time. Besides the Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse card, you can also choose from John Wick, Pennywise, Joker, Pikachu and more. Here's a screenshot of the card featuring Peter Parker without his Spider-Man mask, Gwen Stacy as Spider-Gwen and Miles Morales:

Countdown to Valentine's Day 2020 Day 4: Marvel Spider-Man 32 Valentines

This box of Marvel Spider-Man 32 Valentines was also picked up at the local Dollar General last week for a dollar. The contents include four strips of eight cards and a sheet of red heart-shaped stickers. The front of the box shows Spider-Man getting ready to shoot his webbing at you:

The back of the box shows all eight card fronts plus a sampling of the backs:

Peter Parker in the usual blue and red wallcrawler costume is featured on the first two and fourth cards while Miles Morales in the dark colored Ultimate Spider-Man costume is featured on the third card:

The back of the cards are pretty simple with the Spider-Man logo and two round faded face symbols:

Gwen Stacy as Spider-Gwen is featured on the fifth card while Peter Park as Spider-Man is on the sixth and seventh cards. Spider-Gwen, Parker's Spider-Man and Morales's Ultimate Spider-Man is all featured on the extra-wide eighth card:

Peter Parker as Spider-Man appears on the back of the extra-wide card in two different poses:

I like this set and was surprised by the guest appearance of Spider-Gwen and the Miles Morales. I was glad that no villains appeared in this set even though I wouldn't mind seeing Black Cat pop up.

Spider Sense Peter Parker 1995

This Spider Sense Peter Parker action figure was put out by McDonald's in 1995 as part of their Spider-Man Happy Meal. I believe he was number seven in the series. He stands at 3 3/4" and the cool feature is that you can change his head from plain to half mask by rotating his right arm. The Spider Sense Peter Parker even comes with a non-removable camera in his left hand.
