Justice League: Road To Dark Crisis #1

Justice League: Road To Dark Crisis #1 came out from DC Comics last Wednesday. The cover features shattered glass with shards showing Pariah, Darkseid, Flash, Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern, Jackson Hyde as Aquaman, Jonathan Kent aka Superman and Nightwing. The issue actually has multiple stories that deal with the aftermath of the death of the Justice League (all but one died anyway). The first story is about Nightwing and Jonathan Kent, who I still have a hard time accepting as Superman. The second story features Flash (Wally West) and Kid Flash (Wallace "Ace" West) that takes down Giganta and then tries to see who can stop the most crime. The next story features Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) following a space creature to Atlantis where he meets and teams up with Aqualad now known as Aquaman (Jackson Hyde). The story featuring Pariah has him being haunted by the memories of his dead wife, daughter and son before committing himself to building a machine to defeat the Great Darkness. Finally, Batgirl (Stephanie Brown) tries to stop Nocturna but ends up talking with her (Firefly shows up afterwards to offer the vampire a spot on the new Secret Society). The stories are not bad but not great either and they mostly feel like filler. I'm a little miffed that Kid Flash, Batgirl and Nocturna were not on the cover especially since Darkseid is not actually seen in any of the stories within the issue.

Miniature Black Suit Superman Figurine

This miniature black suit Superman figurine is part of the Justice League 2021 Micro Collection set. He is based on the Zack Snyder's Justice League movie. which I have yet to see. Yes, he does look like he is leaning to one side.

Miniature Cyborg Figurine

This miniature Cyborg figurine is a new one for the Justice League 2021 Micro Collection set. He is based on Ray Fisher from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. To me, this version always looked more machine than Victor Stone. I still think he belongs more with the Teen Titans and I would have loved seeing any of the green heroes (Green Arrow, Green Lantern or Martian Manhunter) in the movies instead..

Miniature Armored Batman Figurine

I was at the local Dollar Tree a few days ago when I saw that they had the new Justice League figurines from Micro Collection. Three of the six are repackaged versions of the miniature Dark Batman figurine, miniature Superman figurine and miniature Wonder Woman figurine. The differences in packages are subtle with the new 2021 versions having the Micro Collection logo in the lower left hand corner and the Mattel logo in the lower right hand corner above the DC Comics logo. This miniature Armored Batman figurine looks like the version in the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice movie. It's a nice Batman variant although I wish they had a different version of Aquaman and Wonder Woman too.

Women Wednesday: Doctor Moongem Meets Huntress, Supergirl and Zatanna

While I was playing Doctor Moongem in DC Universe Online, I got to meet the Huntress, Supergirl and Zatanna. The Huntress actually had me find clues in the Justice League Watchtower (that place is huge and easy to get lost even with the map). I had to save Supergirl before helping her save Superman. I actually helped Zatanna on a couple of missions.

Correction: Miniature Justice League Figurines

There are actually two miniature Justice League Figurines that Mattel put out and that I picked up at the local Dollar Tree. The 2018 line includes Aquaman, Batman, Flash, Superman and Wonder Woman. The 2019 line includes two different versions of Batman (the classic light blue and gray costume and the black costume with dark gray cape), Flash, Superman and Wonder Woman. The Flash, Superman and Wonder Woman figurines are the same from both years. The 2018 Justice League logo is red while the 2019 logo is blue. I didn't notice the different logos until I was hanging them up on my wall. I'm not sure if there is or will be a 2020 line of the miniature Justice League figurines for I couldn't find any information about them online.

Miniature Joker Figurine

I picked up this Miniature Joker Figurine earlier this week at the local Dollar Tree. He is part of the second Justice League miniatures that Mattel put out in 2019. He stands about 2-3/4" and is leaning on his gold walking stick. His costume is the classic purple suit.

Miniature Dark Batman Figurine

I found this Miniature Dark Batman Figurine at the local Dollar Tree earlier this week. His costume is all black but his cape is dark gray. He stands about 2-3/4" and was produced by Mattel in 2019 as part of the second Justice League line of miniatures. He is different from the first Miniature Batman Figurine and the Miniature Light Batman Figurine.

Miniature Light Batman Figurine

I found the second series of Justice League miniatures at the local Dollar Tree a few days ago. I call this one the miniature light Batman figurine because he is in his classic light blue and gray costume. He is different than the first Miniature Batman Figurine that I picked up, which is from the first series. He is standing and looking to one side instead of looking straight ahead. This was produced by Mattel in 2019 and stands about 2-1/2".

Miniature Batman Figurine

This Justice League miniature Batman figurine is the last one in the set that I picked up at the local Dollar Tree. What strikes me odd is that the black bat symbol on his chest is outlined in yellow. This marks him as the Rebirth Batman so I can only assume that the rest of the Justice League members are also from the Rebirth era of DC Comics.

Women Wednesday: Miniature Wonder Woman Figurine

Not only is today Earth Day but it's also Women Wednesday. This week's edition is a Justice League miniature Wonder Woman figurine. I actually picked one up about a month ago at the local Dollar Tree and forgot all about posting a picture. I then picked up another one a few weeks ago so I now have two of her.

Miniature Superman Figurine

This Justice League miniature Superman figurine was picked up at the local Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. The blue of his costume has a metallic look to it and reflects light. His pose is interesting because his left leg is lifted up and slightly bent. Maybe he was trying to imitate Captain Morgan.

Hot Wheels Justice League 5 Pack Now Available

The new Hot Wheels Justice League 5 Pack is now available exclusively at Amazon. Character cars include Superman, Aquaman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Cyborg. Each premium die-cast car are sold separately too. They look cool but my only complaint is that Batman is the only one featured on the packaging. Maybe the rest of the Justice League are too busy racing their cars.
Note: This is post #2200.

Countdown to Valentine's Day 2020 Day 3: Justice League 32 Valentines

This box of Justice League 32 Valentines was picked up last week at the local Dollar General store for a dollar. The contents include four strips of eight cards and a sheet of red heart-shaped stickers. The front of the box features Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman.

The back of the box displays the eight different cards plus the back of the extra wide card:

The first four Justice League Valentines include Aquaman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Cyborg and Flash (Barry Allen):

The backs of the Justice League Valentines are pretty simple:

The last four Justice League Valentines features Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman with Superman. Batman goes solo on the extra wide card (a group shot would have made more sense):

Aquaman and Cyborg make a guest appearance on the back of the extra wide card:

The artwork for the Justice League 32 Valentines is not bad but not great either. However, I noticed that Wonder Woman is wearing a cape on the front of the box but not on her individual Valentine card. Also, Batman and Superman are not wearing their briefs so this makes the Justice League shown here the New 52 version.

Superhero Sunday: JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time

I did a little shopping at the local Dollar Tree yesterday morning and found this odd superhero movie. JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time is a original movie that came out on DVD in 2014 and is not based on any comic book. It opens with the Justice League of America that includes Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Robin, Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman battling the Legion of Doom that includes Lex Luthor, Toyman, Black Mantra, Solomon Grundy, Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, Cheetah and Bizarro fighting in the Arctic. The Super Friends...er, JLA defeats the Legion of Doom but Lex Luthor is presumed dead.
Jump to the 31st Century where the teenage Dawnstar and Karate Kid are taking a tour of a superhero museum where Lex Luthor is encased in a block of ice. Karate Kid thinks they should already be members of the Legion of Super-Heroes and decides to show off. He acts like he is going to punch the block of ice holding Luthor but stops short. Of course, the ice breaks anyway and the super villain awakes from his suspended animation sleep. He watches a hologram video of Superman's origins and finds that he is actually Clark Kent. Lex steals the hourglass belonging to the trapped Time Trapper and goes back in time with Dawnstar and Karate Kid following.
Lex Luthor gathers most of the Legion of Doom because Captain Cold, Black Mantra and Gorilla Grodd decided to pass. Dawnstar and Karate Kid overhear Luthor's plans before sneaking out of the Legion of Doom's flying helmet headquarters that was floating in a swamp. The teenage superhero wannabes make their way to the Hall of Justice but Robin attacks them. The Super Friends...er, JLA break up the fight and hear what the future superhero wannabes have to say. I won't spoil the rest here but it basically deals with the Legion of Doom going back to Smallville to prevent the Kents from taking in baby Kal El.

I could swear that I was watching a bizarre episode of the Super Friends except for the different costumes and personalities of Superman (no trunks), Batman (angrier), Robin (attitude), Wonder Woman (sword and skirted armor) and Aquman (short sleeves). Even Dawnstar and Karate Kid were a lot different looking than they were in the 1970s. Despite the changes, I actually found myself enjoying the animated movie more than I thought I would. There are some funny moments especially when the Legion of Doom tries to take Superbaby and send him back into space. If you want an oddity to your collection of superhero cartoons, then you might want to get a copy here.

Miniature Aquaman and Flash Figurines

I found these miniature Aquaman and Flash figurines at the local Dollar Tree yesterday. The store has only been open for about six months and this has been my biggest find there so far. They are 3" tall and made by Mattel in 2018. The full Justice League set includes Aquaman, Batman, Flash, Superman and Wonder Woman. I'm hoping they will stock the others in the set but I'm not holding my breath for I was lucky to find these when I did. They only had two Aquaman figurines and three Flash figurines left.

Green Lantern Cereal Alert

Lucky is dressed as a Green Lantern on boxes of Lucky Charms. The back of the box has a full size picture of Green Lantern and Cyborg. Inside is a free mini Justice League comic from DC Comics. I got #2 which mostly features Batman.
