Women Wednesday: Birds of Prey #24

DC Comics released Birds of Prey #24 today with the cover featuring Black Canary, Batgirl, Big Barda and Sin. Vixen, Harley Quinn and John Constantine also appears. Here's the official summery: "The Shadow Army has had the upper hand from the jump, but the jump is long past, and the Birds are ready to get their people back and throw down like it’s personal. And yeah, it is."

This issue also features a three-page Worlds Collide chapter with Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Catwoman and Nightwing.

Women Wednesday: Birds of Prey 2023 #1-3 Covers

I didn't pay much attention to the new Birds of Prey #1 that came out in September from DC Comics. Maybe it was because the new team consists of Black Canary, Batgirl (the Cassandra Cain version), Harley Quinn, Big Barda and Zealot (you remember her from WildC.A.T.S. right?). Dinah gathers the women together in order to find her sister, Sin. John Constantine shows up in Birds of Prey #2 to help out Dinah and King Shark shows up towards the end. What really drew me into the series is the cover of #3 because it has that very worn and used look to it plus the Birds look to be facing Wonder Woman. She does appear within the issue along with Green Arrow, who was last seen at the beginning of the first issue.

Birds of Prey #3 came out today and I realized that I had not posted about the Birds of Prey since 2014.

Sexy Sunday: Bombshells Black Canary

Here is Black Canary on the alternate Bombshells cover to Green Arrow #43 (October 2015) from DC Comics:

Having her as a singer makes sense and I love that she is still wearing her fishnet stockings. Of course, she has tattoo on her left forearm. I also like that her band is called the Birds of Prey and she they perform "Hawks and Doves in Love." I would love this as a pinup poster on my wall.

Women Wednesday: Wings of Truth

The cover of Birds of Prey #28 from DC Comics features Artemis (Strix), Bluebelle (Batgirl), Warbler (Black Canary) and Eagle (Condor) aka the Wings of Truth in Gothtopia:

Obviously, Eagle is the only one able to fly while the women ride motorcycles (notice that Artemis rides with Bluebelle):

I would like to see an ongoing Gothtopia series just to see more women on motorcycles.

Women Wednesday: Black Canary From BOP #0

I am liking Black Canary's costume the more I am exposed to it. This is the first panel from Birds of Prey #0 (November 2012). This issue shows her meeting Starling and Batgirl for the first time while she is working undercover for the Penguin.

Pick up the issue and you will find what she wears under the costume.

Women Wednesday: Birds of Prey XXX

I'm speechless not because Birds of Prey XXX is an adult film but that the costumes for Black Canary and the Huntress looks pretty cool. Always nice to see Barbara Gordon as Oracle. Unfortunately, they used face paint for their masks.

DC Comics should team up with Sinister Comixxx and put out a comic mini-series based on this movie.

DC Comics To End Robin, Nightwing And Birds Of Prey In February 2009

Robin, Nightwing and Birds of Prey to End in February was news that I was not expecting. The final issues will be Robin #183, Nightwing #153 and Birds of Prey #127. DC Comics declined to comment on exactly why the three Batman-related comic books were canceled. I enjoyed both series on and off since they started. I just hope that a new comic series with Damian Wayne as the new Robin does not happen.
