Amazing Spider-Man Portfolios 2014 Edition

I went shopping at the local Wal-Mart's Super Center so I could stock up on my fish oil pills (yes, I'm taking them for my cholesterol) when I decided to check out the back to school section. I found four new Amazing Spider-Man portfolios for ninety-seven cents each. I had to get them at that price for my portfolio collection even though I was hoping to find some with Batman. They did have a set with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but I passed on those.

None of the Amazing Spider-Man portfolios are numbered so I just put them in a random order. They are made by Innovative Designs, LLC in New York. The photos/artwork are from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie, which I have yet to see since the local theater closed about a year ago.

Sorry about some of the flash spots in some of the pictures but the flash brought out the colors.

This one has to be my favorite of all the Amazing Spider-Man portfolios since it has a close up of Spidey about to shoot the viewer with his webbing on the front cover:

Spider-Man Spider Sense Notebook and Portfolio

The Spider-Man Spider Sense notebook and matching portfolio were found at the local Wal-Mart for $2.50 and $0.97 respectively. I really the lenticular effect on the front cover of the notebook for Spidey really stands out. The back cover just has the logo, a spider and a link to Marvel Kids. The back cover of the portfolio features a different image of Spider-Man while the interior bottom has the logo and spiders. FAB Starpoint distributed the Spider-Man Spider Sense notebook and porfolio with the copyright date of 2010.

Marvel Heroes Notebook and Portfolio

The Marvel Heroes notebook and matching portfolio both feature the Hulk, Iron Man and Nightcrawler (I guess someone finally figured out that Wolverine is used way too often on merchandise but I wonder why Old Shellhead is flying so low). The notebook was $2.50 and the portfolio was $0.97 at my local Wal-Mart Super Center. The notebook has a lenticular front cover while the back has the Marvel Heroes logo. The back of the portfolio has a small group shot of Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man and Wolverine. The portfolio has the various heroes in the blue background. The interior of the portfolio has a strip featuring the part of the Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America and part of Wolverine. The Marvel Heroes logo has three pairs of eyes (Hulk, Spider-Man and Wolverine) covering the image of Iron Man on the strip. FAB Starpoint distributed both items with a copyright of 2010. The Marvel Kids website is featured on the back of both items.

Iron Man 2 Flying Notebook and Portfolio

I picked up the following Iron Man 2 flying notebook for $2.50 and the matching portfolio for $0.97 at the local Wal-Mart Super Center. Both have the Golden Avenger flying but only the notebook has him in lenticular, which gives a pretty cool 3D effect. The back cover of the notebook does not have an image like yesterday's Iron Man 2 Blaster Notebook and Portfolio. Instead of a wraparound cover, the back features a different image than the front (kind of looks like he blasting himself when the portfolio is spread open). The interior of the portfolio features a close up of Iron Man's blasting hand and head. This too was distributed by FAB Starpoint with a copyright date of 2010. I really love the reddish-orange color.

Iron Man 2 Blaster Notebook and Portfolio

I found these matching Iron Man 2 notebook and portfolio at the local Wal-Mart Super Center. The notebook was $2.50 and has a lenticular front cover. I really love the fact that the back cover actually has an image. The portfolio was $0.97 that features a large image that wraps around the exterior plus a smaller image that wraps around the bottom of the interior. Both were distributed by FAB Starpoint with a date of 2010. I nickname them Blaster since Iron Man is about to blast you.

New Amazing Spider-Man Portfolios And Notebooks

I picked up the new Amazing Spider-Man portfolios and notebooks when I picked up the new ones with the characters from DC Comics that I posted about on Friday. While I found four different portfolios, I could only find two different notebooks. I really like the first one since the background looks real and Spider-Man is almost life like (Venom on the other hand does not). The last one features Spidey swinging away from some of his greatest foes: Green Goblin, Vulture, Doc Octopus, Electro, Rhino and Sandman.

New DC Comics Portfolios And Notebooks

I picked up the new DC Comics portfolios (aka pocket folders) and notebooks at the local Super Wally World today. The covers include the following: Batman and Joker, Batman and Aquaman, Batman with Aquaman, Superman and the Flash (the back of the portfolio has the Super Powers logo) and Wonder Woman.

Spider-Man Folders 2008

The final set of Marvel Comics folders that I have features Spider-Man from Marvel Comics. I bought these the same time that I bought the Dark Knight folders. The covers are mostly pin-up shots of Spider-Man wearing either his classic blue and red costume or his black costume. Other characters that appear include Venom, Sandman and Carnage. The interiors of one and four are the same while the interiors of two and three are the same.

Amazing Spider-Man Folder

In the previous two posts, I talked about the Captain America and Thor folders from 1975. This post deals with the Amazing Spider-Man folder that I also got at the same time. I was a littled disappointed with this one because the cover is from Amazing Spider-Man #135 (November 1974) and features the Punisher with the words "Origin of the Punisher!" Unfortunately, the inside and back panels features old webhead fighting the Shocker. I never had the issue so I don't know if the Shocker actually appeared inside or not. The outside spine of the Amazing Spider-Man folder does have tape on it but there is only one little piece on the inside.

Thor Folder

Like I mentioned in yesterday's post, I picked up the Thor folder along with the Captain America and Spider-Man folders. This is pretty well-worn and I even attempted to keep the bottom part together with tape. The Thor folder has the cover from issue #229 (November 1974) and is copyrighted by Marvel Comics in 1975. The panels featured inside and on the back retells the God of Thunder's orgins. I never had this issue but I found out that the comic book featured Hercules in a story called "Where Darkness Dwells, Dwell I!"
