Roger Dodger, Super Van and '12 Ford Fiesta Hot Wheels

I decided to pick up a few Hot Wheels at the local Dillons store last week and thought I would share pictures of them here even though they are not comic book related. They are collectible toys so this post is sort of appropriate.

The Roger Dodger is #8 in the HW Art Cars mini collection (there's 10 in the set) and #67 in the Hot Wheels 2020 collection. There is supposed to be three variants of this one. I like the copper "Steam" on black, which is why I picked it up. There is a big R on the roof.

The Super Van is #9 in the HW Art Cars mini collection and #68 in the Hot Wheels 2020 collection and features the King of Hearts. The roof has an Ace of Hearts and I'm tempted to either get another one or open this one to find out what is on the other side.

Finally, there is the '12 Ford Fiesta, which is #9 in the Checkmate mini collection (there is 9 in the set) and #263 in the Hot Wheels 2018 collection. I like this one because of the Pawn chess piece and word (there is a bigger Pawn image on the roof). I saw a bunch of Chekmate cars around Christmas last year at the local Walmart's but never picked any up. The one I picked up is basically a white car but I have yet to see a black version of it.

Superhero Sunday: Batmobiles and Batplane

I decided to do something a little different for this week's Superhero Sunday. Instead of putting the spotlight on Batman, I decided to focus on his Batmobile. The reason is because I have been finding some new Batmobiles that Hot Wheels have been producing for 2020. Once again there are five in the set and I have two of them plus one with an alternate paint job. Technically, there are eight in the mini collection if you include all the variants.

I found the chrome Batmobile at the local Walmart's a few months ago. It's the third one in the set and is based on the comic book version:

Here is a close up shot of the chrome Batmobile:

The alternate paint job of the third Batmobile is gold and was found a few weeks ago at the local Walmart's:

Here is a close up shot of the gold Batmobile:

The Batplane is actually the first one of the set and I found it the same time that I found the gold Batmobile. It's from the Batman: The Animated Series. I think there is enough Batman-related flying vehicles that Hot Wheels could do a set of their own. How cool would it be to have a Batplane, Batwing, Batjet, Batrocket and Batcopter?

Here is a close up of the Batplane:

The Hot Wheels Batman Mini Collection lists a third color variation for the third Batmobile but doesn't say what color it is. I'm thinking it will be either black or dark blue. There is also a Batplane variant. I'm still missing #2 (Batcopter), #4 (TV series Batmobile) and #5 (Batman: Arkham Asylum Batmobile). The last one is a Treasure Hunt so I might never find it.

Science Fiction Saturday: The Orville Season 1.5: New Beginnings

Dark Horse put out a four-part mini-series based on the television show, The Orville starring Seth MacFarlane. The first of the two comic book storylines, New Beginnings, sees Ed and Gordon's journey to a fleet conference interrupted by a distress call from what appears to be a Union ship that is older than a century, while Kelly has to intercede in a domestic dispute on board the Orville itself as Bortus plans to enroll Topa in school despite his young age.

The second storyline, The Word of Avis, begins on the third issue, as the ship discovers what appears to be a Union ship headed toward Krill space — but the reality is something far more complicated and potentially deadly.

Dark Horse also collected all four issues and released the trade paperback, The Orville Season 1.5: New Beginnings on February 18, 2020:

Women Wednesday: Amazing Mary Jane #1-6 Covers

Amazing Mary Jane #6 from Marvel Comics hit the newsstands today and I caught up on the series by reading all six issues. The series was a spin off from Amazing Spider-Man #25. Mary Jane Watson, the love of Peter Parker, just got her big shot at fame by landing the female lead in the movie titled Down In Flames, Up In Smoke, which is about the life of Quentin Beck aka Mysterio. The Vulture, Rhino and other super villains show up too. It's a pretty good series so far and family friendly.

T-shirt Tuesday: Grim Reaper with Skulls T-shirt

I had to toss my classic Superman blue t-shirt out last week due to a couple of holes that were getting bigger. I went to Walmart's earlier to shop for a new one but they didn't have any in stock. Instead, I found this t-shirt with the Grim Reaper sitting on his skull throne for only three dollars. Seems appropriate considering what's going on in the world now.

Goodnight, Lyle Waggoner

Sad news today for Lyle Waggoner has passed at age 84. For me, he will always be Steve Trevor on the Wonder Woman tv series from the 1970s. Others will know him from The Carol Burnett Show. He was also the first male centerfold in Playgirl in 1973.

Women Wednesday: Hawkwoman From Hawkman #22

I just finished reading Hawkman #22 and the best part is Hawkwoman. I noticed that I haven't posted much about her on here so I decided to change that today since it's Women Wednesday.

Here's the cover for Hawkman #22 from DC Comics that hits the stands today and I highly recommend that you pick up a copy too:

Black Widow Sticker For International Women's Day

Today is International Women's Day and I just happened to get this Black Widow sticker in the mystery machine (it's actually #9 in the Avengers Assemble 2018 series):

Note: The vending machine jammed after getting this one so it ended up costing me fifty cents instead of a quarter.

Hot Wheels Justice League 5 Pack Now Available

The new Hot Wheels Justice League 5 Pack is now available exclusively at Amazon. Character cars include Superman, Aquaman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Cyborg. Each premium die-cast car are sold separately too. They look cool but my only complaint is that Batman is the only one featured on the packaging. Maybe the rest of the Justice League are too busy racing their cars.
Note: This is post #2200.

Superhero Sunday: Aquaman Bulletin Board

I used to have this Aquaman bulletin board from 1979 and got it the same time that I had the Superman bulletin board. My sister had the Wonder Woman one. Unfortunately, the Aquaman and Wonder Woman bulletin boards were destroyed by water damage years ago. The image below is not mine but one I found at some foreign auction website. I'm still looking for an image of the Wonder Woman bulletin board from 1979.
