Countdown to Halloween 2024 Day 19: Batman: Full Moon #1

Batman: Full Moon #1 (December, 2024) came out last Wednesday just in time for Halloween. Batman battles a werewolf in Gotham City. Zatanna, John Constantine and Man-Bat also appears in this issue. Kirk Langstrom aka Man-Bat tells Batman about the origins of Christian Talbot, a British soldier that was bitten by a werewolf while on a classified mission in Romania. This issue ends with the werewolf battling Batman and Man-Bat.

Imaginext DC Super Friends Series 1 Man-Bat

I don't know if I was lucky that I found this Imaginext DC Super Friends Series 1 Man-Bat action figure on Tuesday or not. He has to be one of the saddest looking Man-Bats that I have ever seen. For starters, the wings on his arms looks more like catfish fins. He appears to be wearing a utility belt harness contraption that crosses his chest and back. To top it off, his accessory is a katana sword. I guess the claws on his feet and hands are not enough. At least, his face is scary enough and he does have large bat-like ears.

Imaginext DC Super Friends Series 1 Wrapper and Insert

I picked up three Imaginext DC Super Friends Series 1 mystery bags on Tuesday at the local Walmart's. Each package was $4.72, and they only had less than a dozen left. I didn't even see these before so I'm not exactly sure when they were stocked but the insert has a 2023 copyright date. Each action figure comes with an accessory.

The wrapper shows Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman in the lower left-hand corner. I'm only showing the front of the wrapper because the back is too shiny for my scanner to pick up the small print.

The outer side of the insert also shows Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman along with a gorilla with a battle axe, a female Troll and dinosaurs.

The inner side of the insert is the checklist for all nine action figures in the Imaginext DC Super Friends Series 1 set. The set includes Swamp Thing, Bane, Man-Bat, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Superboy Prime, Bizarro, Aquaman and Blue Beetle. Swamp Thing and Bane as glow in the dark features. Notice that there is a Batman action figure but no Superman and Wonder Woman figures.

Countdown to Halloween 2023 Day 5: DC's Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun #1

This year's Halloween treat from DC Comics is DC's Ghouls Just Wanna Fun #1. Surprisingly, Harley Quinn is not on the cover. Instead, it's Clark Kent and Lois Lane getting tricked by some little goblins dressed up as the Flash, Mary Marvel, Animal Man and Lobo. The best costume award goes to the one that looks like Man-Bat but he's cheating since that's not a costume.

The stories include the Question in "A Look to Die For", Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) in "The Shadow Over Coast City", Animal Man in "This Day, Anything Goes" (my favorite), Nightwing in "The Dark Bite", Superman in "The Spoils", Robotman in "Not Fade Away", Crush and Lobo in "Happy Hal(lobo)ween", and Man-Bat in "Out of the Shadows".

Note: This is one of four covers.

Countdown to Halloween 2022 Day 4: Task Force Z #12 Cover

You might wonder what does the cover of Task Force Z #12 have to do with Halloween? It looks like a bunch of supervillains standing around the grave of Jason Todd aka Red Hood. Well, Man-Bat is the only monster in the truest sense while Bane, Mr. Bloom and Two-Face are monsters that look like men. Also, the Z stands for zombies, which some of these supervillains are.

Countdown to Halloween 2022 Day 3: Deadman Tells The Spooky Tales

Deadman Tells The Spooky Tales was released last week from DC Comics as part of their DC Kids imprint. Bostan Brand aka Deadman hosts an anthology of thirteen horror stories aimed at kids. If you enjoy Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Goosebumps then you will greatly enjoy this trade paperback. I'm a little surprised that the ghost didn't have a story all to himself but he does get several pages to himself at the beginning and the end of each story. My favorite story features Man-Bat and I love the full page featuring Deaman that I call "The Grave."

Batman Stickers From Dollar Tree

I picked up this pack of ninety-six Batman stickers from the local Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. There are four sheets with twenty-four stickers on each sheet but there are only eight different stickers. Batman has four different stickers while Man-Bat, Killer Croc, Joker and Two-Face each has one sticker. They should have called this set Batman and His Villains set. Maybe there will be one with the various Robins and Batgirls in the Bat Family Stickers packs in the future. Yes, the pack of stickers cost me $1.25 thanks to Dollar Tree raising their prices but it's still a cool addition to my sticker collection.

Countdown to Halloween 2021 Day 28: Task Force Z

DC Comics released Task Force Z yesterday with Red Hood leading a team of super villains turned into zombies. He appears on the cover with Mr. Bloom, Man-Bat, Bane, Sundowner and Arkham Knight. They tackle Crazy Quilt and then Mr. Freeze. It's a good start for the twelve issue series.

Batman Jumbo Coloring & Activity Book 2010 Covers With 2018 Interiors

I picked up a few new superhero coloring books at the local Dollar Tree earlier. Among them was this Batman Jumbo Coloring & Activity Book. The most odd thing about it is that the copyright on the front page and back cover is for 2010 but all the other interior pages show the copyright as 2018. I can only conclude that this was a rushed reprint error. The Robin that appears in this one is Tim Drake since there is a word search puzzle with his name plus the costume pretty much indicates that it is him. The villains that appear include the Joker, Penguin, Killer Croc, Man-Bat, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze and the Riddler. The activity pages include mazes, word searches, squares, puzzles, which is different,  crack the code, draw, make a match and unscramble words.

Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 15: DC The Doomed and the Damned #1

DC The Doomed and the Damned #1 is an 80-page giant that DC Comics released on December 13, 2020. The stories are a mix bag of horror and humor. I really hope they release more issues under this title, which is a homage to The Brave and the Bold series.

"It was a dark and stormy night when the creatures of the DC Universe began to emerge from their lairs into the cool evening air. Tales of the macabre, the murderous, and the morbid abound in this spine-chilling special about monsters and mayhem! What happens when Batman encounters a true urban legend after speaking its name three times in a mirror, or when Madame Xanadu enlists the help of Man-Bat to take down a shadowy specter? And who can stop an intergalactic demon from turning people into frog beasts? Only the unlikely team-up of Green Lantern and Etrigan! All this and seven more fang-tastic tales to trick your treats and bob your apples."

Thrift Store Finds: Batman Fun Case Plus Bonus Activity Books

The last item that I picked up last week at a local thrift store was A Batman Fun Case for three dollars. The box promised two jumbo coloring and activity books, one digest coloring and activity book with stickers, one activity book with stickers and a four-pack of crayons. Unfortunately, the jumbo coloring activity book with Batman and Robin on the cover was not included nor was the box of crayons. The copyright date is 2010 and was produced by Bendon International, Inc.

The digest coloring and activity book measures 5 1/4" by 8 1/4" and the front cover states that stickers are included. Unfortunately, all I had was a page of missing stickers. None of the pages were colored or marked.

The front cover of the Batman activity book with stickers features the Dark Knight and Robin:

The stickers are pretty colorful and features Batman, Robin, Mr. Freeze, the Joker, the Penguin, Two-Face, Man-Bat, Killer Croc and even logos (I was disappointed that there were no Catwoman stickers but then she is also absent from the coloring and activity books):

The only Batman jumbo coloring and activity book that was found inside the Batman Fun Case was the one featuring Batman and the Joker on the front cover:

The back cover features a match two card game that can be cut out (nice to see the Riddler but still no Catwoman):

Also included inside the Batman Fun Case was three jumbo coloring and activity books. Some of the pages has pencil and crayon markings but they are mostly on the puzzle pages. These were not originally part of the set and sold separately for a dollar each with a copyright date of 2012. They were available at the local Dollar General but the only one that I actually seen and picked up was the The Caped Crusader featuring the Penguin on the cover because I actually picked it up a few months ago but never got around posting about it here.

The first Batman jumbo coloring and activity book is Bad Guys Beware featuring Two-Face on the front cover:

Next is the Batman jumbo coloring and activity book titled The Cahse is On featuring Batman and the Joker on the front cover:

Whew, I think this has to be one of the longest posts that I have ever done here. That is why I didn't include any scans of the coloring, puzzle or maze pages.

Batman #538

The cover of Batman #538 is an interesting contrast between black and white. There are just a few touches of red on the logo and the blood that is running down the Dark Knight's chin. This issue is part three of "Darkest Night of the Man-Bat" story and Batman finds himself chasing Kirk Langstrom to the North Pole. The scientist turned creature of the night is hit with energy from Project HAARP's pulse injector, which only makes him madder. Batman tracks him down to a cave before finally injecting him with the serum that will change him back to his human form I believe that Man-Bat's ears have grown just as long as the ears on Batman's cowl over the years.
