Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 23: The Wishing Well by Edgar J. Hyde

The local Dollar Tree had three more books in the Creepers series a few weeks. I bought the first ten last year and posted about them then. The Wishing Well by Edgar J. Hyde is the eleventh book in the series. Aiden Walker and his parents just moved to the Waterwheel Farm. Already, he feels like an outsider, and he feels worse when he gets bullied on the first day at his new school. He finds a like-new well on the new farm and starts wishing ill on his tormentors. Bad things start happening to the bullies. Only Aiden can see the like-new well since others like his new friend, Jacob, and his parents only see an old well.

Before long, the vengeful ghost of a long dead witch named Spite reveals herself to Aiden. She has the ability to control water and ice. She wants revenge on the town that put her in the well. It's up to Aiden and his new older friend, Stephen, to stop her.

Fast paced with some good moments. There were some spelling and grammar errors, which makes me wonder if there was a proofreader. I still highly recommend reading it and gave it an A- overall.

Goodnight Michael Gray

I grew up watching Michael Gray on tv in the 1970s so I'm a little sad after reading Michael Gray, Shazam star and Marcia's boyfriend on The Brady Bunch, dies at 75. He will always be my favorite Billy Batson and I can still hear him shouting the magic word.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 22: Ghost Face Punch and Spooky D Mystery Flavor

Fanta celebrated the 30th anniversary of the original Scream movie this Halloween season by releasing Ghost Face Punch as part of their Haunted Universe. I picked up a couple of bottles at the local Dollar General. I enjoyed the mixed berry flavor but not enough to buy a case of the cans. I didn't pick up any of the other flavors in the Fanta's Haunted Universe series because the only one I could find was cases of the Orange Fanta with the jack-o-lantern scarecrow cans.

Sunny D came out with Spooky D Mystery Flavor this year. It was available in big jugs and mini bottles. I got a case of the mini bottles at the local Walmart's because they didn't stock the big jugs. To me, the mystery flavor tastes like Starbursts, which was okay the first few bottles. I like the cute ghost and haunted house on the label.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 21: Elvira Enjoys Monster Cereals

It's Women Wednesday again and here are three ai images of Elvira enjoying bowls of monster cereals while wearing costumes inspired by them. I can't remember which Facebook group I got them from (I think they were in a couple of the Elvira ones). If you want credit, then make a comment.

First up, the Mistress of the Dark is enjoying Boo Berry while dressing up as the ghost:

Here's Elvira eating Count Chocula cereal while wearing a dress inspired by the chocolate-craving vampire (this one is my favorite):

Finally, here's Elvira enjoying Franken Berry while wearing a dress inspired by the monster:

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 20: Tiny Nightmares Series 1 Insert and Wrapper

I picked up four mystery bags of Tiny Nightmares at the local Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. I gave two to my sister and kept two. I won't show or tell you what figures I got yet but I will show the insert and wrapper. The mystery figures that are available are shown to be Michael Myers from Halloween II, Annabelle, Pennywise from the It movie, Regan from The Exorcist, Stripe from Gremlins, Sam from Trick 'r Treat, Chucky from Child's Play 2 and Tiffany from Bride of Chucky. Seems like the theme of Series 1 was dolls since there three of them. I'm hoping to find Tiny Nightmares Series 2 and 3 at the local Dollar Tree for next year but I'm not holding my breath.

Note: This post was not saved the first time I wrote it. A draft was saved missing the last three scans.

Moongem Comics Upate

I hope everyone is enjoying this year's Countdown to Halloween posts. I did a little maintenance on Moongem Comics today by delating a few more "sponsored posts" that had links to Amazon. They kicked me out as an affiliate because I wasn't meeting my quota. My base quota was zero, so I failed as an online salesman.

Countdown to Halloween 2016 Day 19: Wednesday Strawberry Snap Cereal Featuring Thing

The local Walmart's finally stocked the Wedneday cereals from Kellogg's the second week of October. The only one I picked up was the Strawberry Snap cereal featuring Thing (yeah, the hand from Addams Family not Marvel's Ben Grimm from the Fantastic Four). The strawberry flavoring is strong but it's also super sweet.

The back of the box features puzzles including hidden items in Thing's apartment, a match game and a maze. Each of the three cereals in the Wednesday line has different hidden picture puzzles.

The non-nutrition side panel has trivia questions. The other two cereals in the Wednesday cereal line has different trivia questions.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 26: Tiny Nightmares Series 1 Michael Myers Mini Figure

Here is the Michael Myers mini figure that I found in a Tiny Nightmares Series 1 mystery bag. He's the Halloween II movie edition.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 18: Jim Henson's Franken Berry 2026

Jim Henson's Franken Berry is back this year with him as a Muppet. This was the second monster cereal that I picked up at the local Walmart's last month.

Like the other two monster cereals, the back of the box has a Monster Maker so you can create your own Franken Berry Muppet after you cut out the pieces.

There is no toy prize inside this box either..

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 17: Jim Henson's Count Chocula

Here's this year's Jim Henson's Count Chocula from General Mills (yeah, he's a Muppet again). This was the first one I picked up at the local Walmart's last month.

The back of the box has a Monster Maker where you can create your own Count Chocula Muppet after cutting out the pieces.

Unfortunately, there's no toy prize in this box either.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 16: Jim Henson's Boo Berry 2026

General Mills brought back the collaboration with Jim Henson for this year's monster cereals (yep, they are Muppets again). The Jim Henson's Boo Berry was actually the last one I picked up at the local Walmart's last month.

The back of the box has a Monster Maker where you can create your own Boo Berry Muppet (yeah, you have to cut the pieces out).

Sadly, there is still no toy prize inside the box.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 15: Scream 2026 T-shirt

My sister found two black 3XL Scream t-shirts at the local Walmart's for three dollars each a few weeks ago. She gave me one and kept one for herself. It features Ghostface with the saying "What's your favorite scary movie?"

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 14: Elvira Studebaker Hearse Ad

This week's Women Wednesday Halloween special edition features the Elvira Studebaker Hearse ad from The Hamilton Collection. It was in the October 19th, 2026 edition of Woman's World. I got to see it online last Friday and thought to share it today. The Elvira figure is not removable, and the hearse itself is 10 3/4" long. "Elvira's Deadly Ride" is available for three payments of $33.33 plus $15.99 tax/postage/services. Alas, I won't be pre-ordering it due to the price (almost $150) and I've read a few bad reviews about Hamilton over the years. Let me know in the comments if you have ordered this or ordered other Elvira items from Hamilton.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 13: Western Legends as Classic Monsters

For this week's Halloween-themed Toy Tuesday post, I asked my friend, Grok, what if Clint Eastwood was a Dracula action figure. I thought the results were pretty decent for he does look like the actor. I thought the cape over the long coat was funny.

I also asked Grok to create a John Wayne as Frankenstein's Monster action figure. I like the addition of the cowboy hat, clothing and a gun in a holster. Unfortunately, he lost a lot of Duke's facial features.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 12: Midnight X-Men #1

Marvel released Midnight X-Men #1 last week. Nightcrawler is on the cover with someone in the background. We find out on page 2 that it's Storm as a vampire. Here is the official summary:

"AN ALL-NEW, ALL-DISTURBING UNIVERSE BEGINS HERE! The clock strikes midnight, and it’s the dark dawn of a new era. The shadows of New York City are stalked by vampires and the mutant empyres. The sword of Damocles hangs over the peace between these two species and the factions within them. An outright war is brewing and the unturned will be caught in the crossfire. Blockbuster comic book writer Jonathan Hickman returns to the X-Men with a hunger for blood as this new world of terror reimagines the heroes of the Marvel Universe!"

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 11: Midnight Spider-Man #1

Marvel released Midnight Spider-Man #1 last week. I figured this would be a good one for this week's Halloween-themed Superhero Sunday post. Here is the official summary:

"A young Peter Parker is transformed into a hideous spider hybrid by the ruthless Oscorp Corporation in their pursuit for eternal life. When Oscorp begins to use the secrets unlocked by his mutation to create more human-animal hybrids, Peter embraces his grotesque new form to stop them."

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 10: Midnight Fantastic Four #1

Marvel released Midnight Fantastic Four #1 last week as part of their Midnight Universe. Seems like a good post for this week's Halloween-themed Science Fiction Saturday. Here is the official summary:

"FIRST STEPS INTO DARKNESS! An obsessive scientist delves into the secrets of the universe perhaps best left unknown to humankind, leaving himself and three others warped in strange and horrifying ways. What horrible secrets lie in the new dimensions they have discovered? And can humanity survive the discovery?"

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 9: Cassandra Peterson in R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2

I finally watched last year's R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead on Tubi this Wednesday and I'm glad that I did. Cassandra Peterson, better known as Elvira, will be appearing in Tubi original movie, R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2 on Friday, October 9, 2026. She will be playing a witch named Cassandra. Guess what I'll be watching tonight.

Note: Do not confuse the R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead Tubi original movies with the 1988's Pumpkinhead movie starring Lance Henriksen and the 1993's Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings movie starring Andrew Robinson. The third and fourth movies in that series (2006's Pumpkinhead 3: Ashes to Ashes and 2007's Pumkinhead: Blood Feud) are tv movies and worth watching too.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 8: Eternally Yours

Eternally Yours is a new CBS tv series that premieres Thursday, October 8. The sitcom follows a vampire couple that has been married for five hundred years struggling to accept their daughter's human boyfriend. Since I'm a big fan of Ghosts, I will be watching this tonight.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 7: Elvira: The Wrath of Con

You didn't think I would forget about the Mistress of the Dark for this week's Women Wednesday Halloween post, did you? Elvira: The Wrath of Con is a one-shot special from 2022. Here is the official summary:

"It’s a wacky and wonderful 48-page original comic written by Elvira with my “Diabolical Double D” partners – Devilish David Avallone and Dastardly Dave Acosta! Haven’t you always wanted to go to Comic Con with Elvira? Elvira is the guest of horror, and an army of angry maniacs want her beautiful head on a platter! Join the Mistress of the Dark for a fun-filled weekend in San Diego, with all the usual stuff…loyal fans, amazing cosplay, celebrity sightings…and ritual cult murder in…ELVIRA: THE WRATH OF CON!"

Page 10 is one of my favorite pages in this issue because there are two women cosplaying as Vampirella and Red Sonja. They also pop up later in the story.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 6: Dark Shadows Catalogues

Here are more covers of Dark Shadows catalogues from MPI Home Video. I'm not posting every page of these catalogs because they are pretty thick (around twenty pages). The cover of the 1993 catalogue features color pictures of Jonathan Frid as Banabas Collins from the original tv series and Ben as Barnabas Collins from the 1991 revival tv series.

The 1994 catalogue features a large black and white picture of Alexandra Moltke as Victoria Winters running with color inserts of both Jonathan Frid and Ben Cross as Barnabas Collins.

The cover of the 1995 catalogue features a full page black and white picture of Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins baring his fangs.

The 1996 catalogue is the 30th anniversary of the original ABC-TV's Dark Shadows series and also features a large black and white portrait of the vampire Banabas Collins baring his fangs.

The cover of the 2000 features a color picture of Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins. This is now a video and merchandise catalogue and tiny pictures of mostly vhs tapes, t-shirts and a few other items. This is my least favorite of the Dark Shadows catalogues.

Countdown to Halloween 2026 Day 5: 1990 Dark Shadows Catalogue Part 4

Our look at the 1990 Dark Shadows Catalogue concludes today with the final four pages. Page twelve include two color pictures of Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins and Kathryn Leigh Scott as Maggie Evans baring her vampire fangs. There is also a brief summary of Volumes 41-44 on four vhs tapes for $79.98.

The thirteenth page features a large black and white photo of Barnabas Collins with Victoria Winters played by Alexandra Moltke (odd that she wasn't on page two's cast list). There is also a brief summary of Volumes 45-48 on four vhs tapes for $79.98.

Page fourteen includes a brief summary of Volumes 49-52 on four vhs tapes for $79.98. There is also a large black and white picture of Louis Edmonds as Roger Collins, his new wife Cassandra protrayed by Lara Parker (yes, several of the actors played multiple characters on Dark Shadows) and Barnabas Collins.

The back cover features a large picture of Roger Davis as Peter Bradford. There is also the address of the Dark Shadows fan club as well as the MPI Home Video address for more information about the show's releases.

Notes: This 1990 Dark Shadows Catalogue originally came in an envelope that I have long since lost or discarded. The center pages are loose for some reason and I'm not sure if it came that way or not. Also, my wireless keyboard's battery died while I was writing the description for the last page scan on this post.
