Women Wednesday: Sonja Reborn #1

Dynamite Entertainment dropped Sonja Reborn #1 today. There are multiple covers but I'm only showing the first one below. Here's the official summary:

"In a contest to decide the fate of the world, the ancient (and codependent) gods The Light and The Dark transport Maggie Sutherland, a young British clerk, from the year 2025 into the wilds of Hyboria, where she awakens transformed into the renowned Hyrkanian Bellatrix Red Sonja. Thrown headlong into a realm of gods and monsters, Maggie must quickly learn how to survive both the harsh environment and the constant threats posed by friends and foes alike as she struggles to find her way home."

Hot Wheels 2025 Dark Blue Batman & Robin Batmobile

I found this Hot Wheels 2025 Dark Blue Batman & Robin Batmobile at the local Dollar General this morning. I thought I already had it so I almost put it back. I found out that I had the black and blue versions of the Hot Wheels 2024 Batman & Robin Batmobiles. This is #2 of 250 overall Hot Wheels set and #1 of 5 in the Batman subset. The price for Hot Wheels at Dollar General is now $1.35.

Science Fiction Saturday: Resident Alien: The Book of Changes #1

Like most things, I'm late into getting Resident Alien. I knew about the several comic book series from Dark Horse Comics starting in 2012 but never read any of them. I didn't watch the Syfy/USA tv series that started in 2021 and ended this year until the fourth and final season started early this year. I binged watched them from the beginning and greatly enjoyed the show. This week Dark Horse Comics released a new mini-series starting with Resident Alien: The Book of Changes #1 that came out this past week. Here's the official summary:

"Return to Patience, USA, the seemingly sleepy town with numerous mysteries and secrets — and a handful of those are interplanetary! Harry and Asta, having recently welcomed their child Clover into the world, now welcome several visitors from Harry’s home planet. Agent Jones returns, and a new Resident Alien comics arc begins!"

It should be noted that Asta is the alien Harry's girlfriend in the comics while she is only his best friend on the tv series.

Thunderbolts the Movie

I finally watched Marvel's Thunderbolts last night and I loved it. While most of the story focused on Yalena Belova (Florence Plugh) and Bob aka Sentry (Lewis Pullman), the rest of the group were great too. I loved the humor of Alexei Shostakov aka the Red Guardian (David Harbour), the snarkiness of John Walker aka the Super Soldier (Wyatt Russell) and the seriousness of Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). I did wish that Ava Starr aka Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) had more scenes in the movie, but she was still great. I also thought killing off Taskmaster kind of sucked. I really hope a sequel is coming even if it's called New Avengers.

I still need to watch the Black Widow movie.

Detective Comics #1100

DC Comics released Detective Comics #1100 yesterday. The oversized issue contains four stories with the first one featuring Batman teaming up with Ace the Bat Hound. Joker and Robin appear briefly in other stories. Here's the official summary:

"In March 1937, a comic book was published that changed the world as we know it. Now, 1,099 issues later, some of comics’ top talents have gathered to celebrate the comic that birthed a legend! Tom Taylor and Mikel Janín join forces once again to tell a heartfelt and action-packed story of Batman rescuing a young boy’s best friend. Greg Rucka and Álvaro Martínez Bueno team up for a tale that asks the question: was Gotham better off before Batman? Mariko Tamaki reunites with Detective Comics collaborator Amancay Nahuelpan for a yarn that explores Bruce Wayne’s world outside of the cowl and how his double life as Batman intersects with his alter ego’s actions. Dan Watters and legendary artist Bill Sienkiewicz bring us a story that illustrates just how similar Batman’s motivations are to the criminals he has sworn to fight and how he fights against his own darkness."

Women Wednesday: Black Cat #1

Mavel dropped Black Cat #1 today and I lost count how many different mini-series and series she's had over the years.

Anyway, here's the official summery: "Super-thief, super… Hero?! Felicia Hardy is the Black Cat, the world’s slyest and most skilled super-thief! She loves a good score. The longer the odds — the better! But her entire world turned upside down after the Amazing Spider-Man’s battle with Hellgate, so Felicia is turning over a new leaf as New York City’s newest… super hero?! The first super villain on her list — the Lizard! But will the Black Cat risk it all after her do-gooding moral high ground attracts dangerous attention from the lowest of the city’s underworld? Easy, Kingpin of Crime, she’s still skimming off the top — honest! Superstar G. Willow Wilson joins rising star Gleb Melnikov to chart the winding road of twists and turns, laughs and mind-bending action of Black Cat’s next exciting chapter!"

T-shirt Tuesday: Superman 2025 Movie Shield T-shirt

I bought this XXL Superman 2025 movie shield t-shirt last week for $8.98 at the local Walmart's. I bought it for a special reason: my stepdad died on Saturday, August 9th, 2025 at the age of 85. He requested that everyone that attended his funeral wear t-shirts and jeans. His funeral was Thursday, August 14th and I wore this t-shirt along with my black jeans. For me, the S shield on this t-shirt stands for stepdad.
