Thrift Store Find: Burger King Treehouse Horror Classics Marge Simpson

Originally offered by Burger King in 2011, I found this Treehouse Horror Classics Marge Simpson figurine at a local thrift store. Unfortunately, her battery is really low so the light is very dim. It's still a cool figurine to have since I don't have any of The Simpsons.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance Tactics

I really wanted to write about the new Marvel: Avengers Alliance Tactics game on Facebook. Unfortunately, I can't get the game to load and I finally gave up after the third attempt.

Thrift Store Find: Tuck Turtle Figurine

I picked up this Tuck Turtle figurine from 2007 in a bag of figures a few weeks ago at the local thrift store. At first, I thought he was called Wonder Turtle due to the fact that he has a W on his cape. After doing a search, I learned who he really was and that he appeared on a Nickelodeon cartoon series titled Wonder Pets. Never seen the show but he's a cool little guy that stands at three inches.

McDonald's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 #4: Be Amazing Journal

In addition to The Amazing Spider-Man 2Happy Meal for boys that I picked up a few weeks ago, I also managed to pick one up for the girls. The #4: Be Amazing Journal not only has a lot of pink but is also more artsy. The journal measures 4-1/4" by 5-1/4". The hard front cover has Spidey aiming and getting ready to fire his web shooter right at you along with "Be Amazing" printed sideways on the flap that is actually attached to the back cover (there's a half spider symbol image hidden under the flap):
Front cover of McDonald's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 #4: Be Amazing Journal
The pages within the journal are purple and feature different graphics such as the spider symbol, webbing, buildings and even Spider-Man himself. Some pages are lined and some are not. Here is the centerfold:
Centerfold of McDonald's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 #4: Be Amazing Journal
The back cover of the journal is basically webbing with the spider symbol and part of Spidey's shoulder making it a wraparound cover:

The sheet of stickers measures 3 by 3 inches. Mostly the stickers are symbols and only one actually features Spider-Man from the movie:

I would have liked this journal to have featured Gwen Stacy even if it was just an image on the cover or a sticker. I felt like the girls got cheated on this compared to the activity book that the boys received.

McDonald's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 #8: Activity Book

I managed to pick up a Happy Meal for boys when McDonald's was running their The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie tie-in. I got #8, which is the Spider-Man Activity Book. The hardback book is just shy of 4-1/2" by 5". The activities includes mazes, word scrambles, drawing exercises (yourself as a super hero or a spider), hidden words, coloring pages, counting, how many words can you find, coded messages, Tic-Tac-Toe and spot the differences. The front cover features Spider-Man in his famous web shooting and swinging pose:

The centerfold features an odd perspective of buildings that you can use the stickers to make a scene:

The back cover features Spider-Man face to face with Electro:

The stickers is on a sheet measuring 3" by 4" and features a lot of Spider-Man in different poses. There are only two Electro stickers and several spider symbols (my scanner automatically cropped the right side that has Made for McD's 2014 text):

McDonald's Amazing Spider-Man 2 Apple Slices Wrapper

Kudos for McDonald's for actually putting cool graphics on their apple slices wrapper for their The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Happy Meals:

I actually picked up two The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Happy Meals a few weeks ago and I will post the "toys" that I received in them in the next few days.

Thrift Store Find: McDonald's Young Justice Mini Skateboard #3: Superboy

I picked up a bag stuffed with oddball figures at the local thrift store a few weeks ago for a dollar. Among them was this McDonald's Young Justice mini skateboard #3: Superboy that originally came out in 2012:

This is pretty cool thrift store find since I already have the Superman mini skateboard.

The End of Superhero City

Today is a sad day for me. I read the following message on Superhero City's Facebook page:

Capital Gamers,

Today is the day.

At precisely 1:27pm Pacific Time the servers have been shut down. Age of Champions, Superhero City, and Supreme Heroes will be preserved in the archives of EA and within the hearts of everyone these games have touched.

These games launched dozens of careers, thousands of friendships, a marriage, some headaches, a few babies, and our Capital Games Empire into the world.

We hope to see you around Heroes of Dragon Age and any other games we are set to release in the future. Thank you all. Its been a truly wonderful and emotional ride.

-The Capital Games Team

I knew it was coming but it is still a shock to see such a good superhero game end. I believe I got my character up to level 1146 the last time I played. Here is my character from Superhero City in animated form:

Thrift Store Find: McDonald's Young Justice Batman

Yes, I originally posted about getting a 2011 McDonald's Young Justice Batman here. I found another along with a bunch of other Happy Meal toys in a bag at the local thrift store for a dollar. Here are better pictures of him with his cape down:

Thrift Store Find: Glow In The Dark Venom

Remember all those toys from McDonald's The Brave and the Bold Happy Meal that I posted about last week? Well, this 2006 glow in the dark Venom from Hasbro was also in the same dollar bag with them that I picked up at a local thrift store. He is a tie-in for the Spider-Man 3 movie and only his eyes and teeth glows. I would have liked this better if his pink tongue or if the webbing on his costume would have also glowed.

Here's the back view:

The glow in the dark Venom is very easy to stand and he has a lot of articulation. I do believe that I already picked him up before at a thrift store and misidentified him here.

PCH Super Hero Comic Books Plus Graphic Novel

My Superhero Comic Books plus graphic novel grab bag arrived from Publishers Clearing House (PCH) on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. We got a nice mix with some comics from DC Comics and various independent comic publishers. Unfortunately, there was nothing from Marvel Comics. I haven't had the chance to read any of them yet so no reviews.
Cover of Bloodshot #11 from Valiant
First up is Bloodshot #11 (December 1993) from Valiant Comics. The only other issue that I have in this series is #3.
Front cover of G.I. Joe #16 from Devil's Due Publishing
Back cover of G.I. Joe #16 from Devil's Due Publishing
Next up is G.I. Joe #16 (October 2006) from Devil's Due Publishing. I have no other issues of this series from this publisher.
Cover of Justice League International #62 from DC Comics
I also received Justice League International #62 (March 1994) from DC Comics. This joins #20 and #21 that I already have.
Front cover of Robotech: The Macross Saga #5 from Comico
Robotech: The Macross Saga #5 (August 1985) from Comico was also included. I have never read an issue of this comic based on the cartoon series.
Back cover of Robotech: The Macross Saga #5 from Comico
I also have never seen an episode of Robotech: The Macross Saga.
Wraparound cover of Robotech: The Macross Saga #5 from Comico
I love the wraparound cover.
Front cover of Spawn Batman graphic novel from Image Comics
Finally, the graphic novel that I received was Spawn Batman (1994) from Image Comics. While I only have three issues of Spawn (#1, 2, 116), I do have a lot issues of Batman and related titles.
Back cover of Spawn Batman graphic novel from Image Comics
Overall, an interesting grab bag of comics from PCH. I was surprised at the choice for the graphic novel.

Thrift Store Find: McDonald's Brave & Bold Bat-Mite

This 2011 McDonald's The Brave and the Bold Happy Meal Bat-Mite figurine is actually the second one I found at a local thrift store (the first was posted here):
Front of McDonald's Brave & Bold Bat-Mite
He is mostly dark blue with some white, yellow, flesh and black. He stands only two inches tall and wobbles a little when I try to stand him up.
Back of McDonald's Brave & Bold Bat-Mite
At least the pictures of the newly found Bat-Mite figurine turned out better than that of the first one I found. Yes, this one was found in the same dollar bag with a bunch of other toys from The Brave and the Bold Happy Meal.

Thrift Store Find: McDonald's Legion of Superheroes Timberwolf

I admit that I didn't watch all of the Legion of Superheroes cartoon series when it was originally broadcast. I caught maybe a handful of episodes and liked it well enough. I picked up this 2007 McDonald's Legion Happy Meal Timberwolf a few weeks ago in a dollar bag at a local thrift store:
Front of McDonald's Legion Happy Meal Timberwolf
Looks like he is doing a jig. The paint job on this amazing with plenty of tan, brown and black.
Back of McDonald's Legion Happy Meal Timberwolf
Unfortunately, this Timberwolf figurine's feet are not flat so he is impossible to display. He can't even lean or sit on something.
