Thrift Store Finds: Playskool Jar Jar Binks

This Star Wars Jedi Force Jar Jar Binks from Playskool is another action figure that was in a two dollar bag that I picked up a few weeks ago at a local thrift store. He stands at 2 3/4" with 2011 Hasbro on the bottom of one foot. I like having him mostly because I don't have a lot of alien action figures.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the Anakin Skywalker action figure that he originally came packaged with.

Thrift Store Finds: Smash Mobile Hulk

I actually found this Marvel Super Hero Adventure Smash Mobile Hulk at a local thrift store a few weeks ago in a bag of seven other action figures for two dollars. He stands at three inches and is actually wearing an orange with black safety vest over his tattered white shirt. One foot is marked 2010 Marvel Inc. while the other is marked Hasbro Made In China.

Unfortunately, I could not find the Smash Mobile that this Hulk originally came with.

Women Wednesday: Arrow's Katie Cassidy in Black Canary Costume

Check out these pictures from Blastr's First look at Katie Cassidy as Black Canary on The CW's Arrow:

Margot Robbie Cast as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad

According to Comics Alliance's Margot Robbie to Star as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, which is set to be released on August 5, 2016:

She just wrapped up the Tarzan reboot movie set to be released on July 1, 2016 in which she plays Jane Porter.

Vending Machine Mini Green Lantern String Puppet

The DC Comics string puppets, er dolls actually arrived at a local store's vending machine a few weeks ago but I finally had three quarters to try my luck this morning. The insert card showed Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and the Joker plus a chance to get three other mini toys that I had no interest in. I held my breath and was relieved when a mini Green Lantern string puppet, er doll came out in his plastic bubble.

He is 2 3/4" tall and 1 3/4" wide. The string colors used to make him are white, green and black. His mask, eyes and power ring are made from thin felt. His chest symbol seems to be really thick felt.

The mini Green Lantern string puppet, er doll has a black string loop on his head with a label attached. One side has copyright DCE (I presume DC Entertainment), s13, and A&A/China. The other side has the occult number of 153938/153939.

According to my research, there are eight mini string puppets, er dolls in the set that includes Superman, Batman, the Joker, Green Lantern, Robin, the Flash, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. I doubt that I will try to get any more of these since I'm once again out of quarters. They seem like they would make perfect cat toys.

Women Wednesday: Veron as Black Canary

Here is cosplay model Veron as Black Canary from DC Comics:

You can view more of her in various costumes at her official Tumblr page here.

Avengers Assemble Notebook Thor Edition

I had to buy a new watch today so I decided to check the school supply section at the local Walmart's. Good thing I did for I found a Marvel Avengers Assemble spiral notebook with a focus on Thor. Sure, Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk and Hawkeye are featured on the front cover but the God of Thunder appears on the front cover twice:

A full figure shot of the Mighty Avenger ready to smash some heads with his hammer is on the back cover:

The eighty page wide rule spiral Avengers Assemble notebook Thor edition was put out by Innovative Designs in 2013 and made in Vietnam. I picked mine up for a $1.97. Since this is based on images from the cartoon series, I'm sure that the other superheroes each got their own editions too.

Thrift Store Find: Super Combat Captain America Action Figure

I actually found a four inch Super Combat Captain America action figure at a local thrift store for fifty cents a few weeks ago. Hasbro put him out in 2011 as the seventh figure in the First Avenger movie line. He is little worn in places and is missing his accessories.

Countdown to Halloween 2014 Day 31: The Macabre Mobile by Jelly of the Month Club and Elvira

Happy Halloween and you may have noticed that I haven't posted much about Elvira this year. So it's only fitting that today's special treat is The Macabre Mobile Song (She's Gonna Run You Down) performed by the Jelly of the Month Club and Elvira. I dig it and I'm sure you will too. Remember to have a safe and happy Halloween.

Countdown to Halloween 2014 Day 30: Gaia Online Shopkeepers In Costumes

Every year Gaia Online throws a big online Halloween party. This year's theme is Demon vs Angel but the fun part is that the shopkeepers dress in costumes and hand out candy. Players collect twenty-two pieces of candy that can be traded in to collect Halloween collectibles. There are some costumes that are anime-inspired and I have no clue as to who they are supposed to be while others are from comic books, tv and movies. I've collected some of the more fun shopkeepers in costume.

First off is Bildeau, a robot, dressed up as Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

Next, Ribateau, another robot, is wearing a Michelangelo mask and eating pizza from TMNT:

Nicolae is wearing a Captain Kirk from Star Trek uniform:

Cresento is dressed up as Mr. Spock:

One of my favorites is Moira dressed up as Death from Vertigo/DC Comics:

Josie is wearing a Gamora from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy:

Finally, another favorite of mine is Vanessa wearing a Disney's Maleficent costume:

Countdown to Halloween 2014 Day 29: Bench Warmer 2014 Halloween Trading Cards

This is the last Women Wednesday post for this month and this week's treats are the Bench Warmer 2014 Halloween trading cards. This is a small set of beautiful women wearing sexy costumes.

First up is Angela Fong wearing a hot Wonder Woman bikini:

Next is Candace Kita in what I can only guess is a Brownie uniform:

Lisa Gleave is wearing a sexy scout uniform:

Rachel Bernstein opted for a simple black and white bikini top with a matching skirt:

Finally, Sabrina Rose dresses up in a black and white half bustier and tattered pirate shorts:

Yeah, not only is the Bench Warmer 2014 Halloween trading cars set small but only Angela Fong actually wore a sexy costume.

Countdown to Halloween 2014 Day 28: Ultimate Spider-Man vs Dracula Book and Stickers

Ultimate Spider-Man vs Dracula is based on the second season episode of Marvel Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon titled "The Howling Commandos". The book is 8" x 8" and includes twenty pages. Two pages of stickers are also included. I'm only posting a few pages from the book to give you an idea of what's inside. I bought my copy earlier this month on a road trip to the nearest Hastings for $5.99.

As you can tell by the cover, this Dracula has white hair and is not the version from Tomb of Dracula:

Page three starts the story plus features a picture of Spider-Man and Nova (other characters that make appearances include Blade, White Tiger, Power Man and Iron Fist):

The Howling Commandos are supernatural agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and steal the show when they are called upon by Spidey (they include Werewolf By Night, The Living Mummy and The Monster of Frankenstein):

Man-Thing also makes an appearance:

Here's the back cover of the Ultimate Spider-Man vs Dracula book:

The book also comes with two pages of stickers. The first page is found in the front of the book. There are stickers of Spider-Man, Dracula, Man-Thing, The Living Mummy, The Monster of Frankenstein, bats and even spider-pumpkins:

The second page of stickers include Spider-Man, Dracula, the Howling Commandos, Man-Thing, Werewolf By Night, The Living Mummy, The Monster of Frankenstein, more bats and even more spider-pumpkins:

This is a fun little book to read and is appropriate for younger readers. Now I just have to watch the cartoon episode that it is based upon.

Countdown to Halloween 2014 Day 27: Boo Berry 2014 Box

Finally, here is the Boo Berry 2014 box that was illustrated by Jim Lee from DC Comics, er DC Entertainment.

Here is the front of the box:

This is the non-nutrition side:

Here is the back of the Boo Berry 2014 box featuring a one-page monster cereal comic:

Finally, here is the bottom with a creepy version of the ghost's head and arms (he looks like someone gave him a black eye):

Unfortunately, Yummy Mummy and Frute Brute did not return this year. Hopefully, all the monster cereals will return next year. If they do, then I have one request: please put a free toy surprise or mini comic book inside.

Countdown to Halloween 2014 Day 26: Franken Berry 2014 Box

Dave Johnson from DC Comics illustrated the Franken Berry 2014 box. I never noticed that he had strawberries instead of fingernails.

Here is the front of the box:

Here is the non-nutrition side:

The back of the box features a totally different one page comic featuring the cereal monsters:

Finally, here is the bottom of the Franken Berry 2014 box:
