Happy 81st Birthday to Elvis

Today is the 81st birthday of Elvis Presley. House of Fun is having a Rock & Roll Challenge for their Elvis Slots game:

Here is the loading screen of the game:

I have been playing it off and on for the past few months at Facebook. It's not my favorite House of Fun Slots game but it's far from the worse one.

The Shannara Chronicles Review

I greatly enjoyed last night's premiere of The Shannara Chronicles on MTV. It's based more on The Elfstones of Shannara book. Wil is the weakest link on the show but that's because his mother just died and he left his home. The best characters without a doubt are the two female leads: Amberle and Eretria. Of course, seeing Allanon the druid come to life was just awesome. The special effects were cool too and I can't wait to watch future episodes.

The Shannara Chronicles Starts Tonight

The Shannara Chronicles based on the Shannara fantasy book series by Terry Brooks starts tonight on MTV. I will be watching for sure.

Okay, I'm way late in posting this but here is the first look of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange on the double issue of Entertainment Weekly #1397/98:

New Picture of Olivia Munn as Psylocke

Happy New Year and I might as well start 2016 off right with a new picture of Oliva Munn as Psylocke thanks to New Look At Olivia Munn As Psylocke On X-Men: Apocalypse Set:

Hot Wheels HW City 2015 Batman Arkham Asylum Batmobile

I went to the local Dollar General to do some browsing earlier this afternoon and I was a little surprised that they had their shelves stocked with Valentine's Day merchandise already. I did pick up a few items that I will hopefully showcase in February. I also picked up the Hot Wheels HW City 2015 Batman Arkham Asylum Batmobile. This is a bit different than the Arkham Asylum Batmobile from Hot Wheels. The biggest difference is that this one has more of a matte black finish instead of the glossy black. The packaging is different too since this one belongs to the HW City series. The back of package is mostly devoted to the Hot Wheels Showdown scan & race game (there is a code to start the race but I have nothing to scan it with so it is pretty worthless to me). The bottom of the diecast car is black instead of chrome and has 2010 on it. The price was a whopping $1.30, which is still cheaper than their Hot Wheels Star Wars vehicles that are selling for five bucks.

Here is a close up:

Christmas Haul Part 5: Superman Words T-shirt

The final geek-related item that I received as a Christmas gift was this long sleeved Superman words t-shirt. As you can tell the s-shield is made up entirely of red and yellow words related to the Man of Steel. The long sleeves and collar are red while the rest is dark blue. There is no year or company printed on the t-shirt but it was made in Haiti and is an XL (46/48). It was purchased by my mother at the local Walmart for about ten dollars.

Here is a picture of me wearing the Superman words t-shirt along with my favorite hoodie:

Christmas Haul Part 4: Star Trek 50th Anniversary Tribute

I received this Special Newsweek Edition: Star Trek 50th Anniversary Tribute magazine as a Christmas gift this year. The front cover features the five captains from the different tv shows plus the rebooted Kirk from the new movies:

The back cover features a classic picture of Leonard Nimoy as Spock:

Christmas Haul Part 3: Hot Wheels Star Trek: Sulu

I received this Hot Wheels Star Trek: Sulu diecast car also for Christmas this year. It is the Midnight Otto with a cartoon picture of him on both sides and the Enterprise on the roof. The front of the package features Sulu saying "Captain! I'm picking up an object of planetary size on the sensors!"

The back of the package features a look at all of the vehicles in the series that includes: 1988 Jeep Wagoneer (Uhura), '49 Ford C.O.E (Kirk), Custom '52 Chevy (Scotty), '38 Dodge Airflow (McCoy), Midnight Otto (Sulu) and '59 Chevy Delivery (Spock):

Christmas Haul Part 2: Hot Wheels Falcon

I received this Hot Wheels Falcon diecast car as a Christmas present this year. It is #8 in the series from 2014.

The back of the package only shows Venom, Hulkbuster Iron Man and Ant-Man Hot Wheels diecast cars:

Christmas Haul Part 1: Hot Wheels Black Widow

Along with the usual socks and underwear, I did receive some comic book-related Christmas presents. I will be posting them over the next few days instead of dumping them all in one post. First up is the Hot Wheels Black Widow from 2014, which is #18 in the series:

The back of the package shows only Thor, Captain America and Iron Man Hot Wheels diecast cars:
