Superhero Sunday: The Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day #1

Marvel released The Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day #1 last week. Of course, this has lots of variant covers with covers E and G being my favorite. Here is the official summary:

"BRAND NEW BRAND NEW DAY! Spider-Man discovers one of the most valuable items the Kingpin, A.K.A. Wilson Fisk, possesses — THE LEXICON. This directory of the Kingpin’s criminal enterprise could destroy the criminal landscape of New York City and that’s Spider-Man’s goal when he takes it. But Fisk isn’t the only person who wants the Lexicon… Mr. Negative would love his competitor’s secret information, but so would Frank Castle himself, the Punisher. Taking the Lexicon sure seemed like a good idea to make the city safer, but it’s painted the biggest target ever on Spider-Man’s back!"

The Fury of Firestorm #1 & #2 (2026)

How did I miss this? DC Comics released The Fury of Firestorm #1 on April 8, 2026. I used to read Firestorm back in the 1980s and still have most of the issues. I might have start having Firestorm Fridays as an alternative to Fantasy Fridays. Here is the official summary of the first issue:

"The community of Bedford, Colorado, is a sleepy small town. The people say hello to their neighbors, attend town hall meetings, and root for the local high school football team on Friday nights. But this idyllic small town is thrown upside down when the Nuclear Man arrives and starts... experimenting. Firestorm has turned buildings to sand and people to glass with no remorse and no warning. But what exactly provoked Ronnie Raymond to commit this heinous act, and can anyone contain the fury that is Firestorm?"

Here is the official summary of The Fury of Firestorm #2, which was released this week:

"WHO IS RONNIE RAYMOND? Who is Ronnie Raymond, and how did he become the powerful nuclear man Firestorm? Is there an answer in his past that sheds a light on how he went rogue?"

Toy Tuesday: Funko Stranger Things Kinder Joy Lucas

The Funko Stranger Things Kinder Joy eggs have finally hit the local Dillons store in Kansas. I picked up four of them last Saturday morning.

Funko Stranger Things Kinder Joy VC273 is Lucas in his basketball uniform. Side A of the insert shows how to assemble the toy.

Side B of the insert showcases several of the hanging figurines plus a QR code that leads you to the Upside Down game (No, I haven't played it yet).

The Lucas Sinclair figurine features him in his white with green trim basketball uniform and white shoes. He is holding a basketball and there is an "8" on the back of his jersey. Lucas stands about 1 1/2" tall. The picture doesn't do him justice but he's pretty cool for a sports figurine.
