Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 11: DC Trinity Candysticks Deja Vu

I posted about the DC Trinity Candysticks on the first day of last year's Countdown to Halloween. Well, they are back at the local Dollar General...sort of. The only thing different about the front of the bag is the colors for the logo and the "20 CT".

The only difference on the back of the bag is the coloration of "Candysticks".

The Batman boxes has the same artwork but different background and "Candy Sticks" coloration. Yes, there are still three different Batman boxes:

The Superman boxes also have the same images but different background and "Candy Sticks" coloration. He only gets two different boxes:

Once again, Wonder Woman got shafted and only has one box. The graphics on her boxes are the same as last year's version but the coloration of the background and "Candy Sticks" are different.

I have better pictures this year since I scanned the bag and boxes instead of using my digital camera. I also bought two bags of this year's DC Trinity Candysticks (they really should use that name instead of just "Candy Sticks". The first bag actually had twenty-one boxes instead of twenty. It had ten Batman boxes (one Batman/Batman, six Batman/Trinity with yellow background and three Batman/Trinity with orange-yellow background), eight Superman boxes (three Superman/Superman and five Superman/Trinity) and three Wonder Woman boxes. The second bag had nine Batman boxes (four Batman/Batman, four Batman/Trinity and one Batman/Batman with orange-yellow background), eight Superman boxes (two Superman/Superman and six Superman/Trinity) and three Wonder Woman boxes.

Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 10: Lois Lane Gets Witchy

I can't believe that I have never posted the cover to Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #1 from 1958 before. One would think that this would have been out on the shelves in time for Halloween. The issue actually hit the newsstands on January 14th according to the ad. The cover and first page actually has it as a March-April issue. "The Witch of Metropolis" is actually the third story and Lois Lane turns into an old hag instead of being a cute witch. I think someone at DC Comics needs to update the story and make her a sexy witch.

Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 9: Pir Figurine

This Pir figurine is another one that I picked up at the local Dollar General. He has his black robe open to show off his bony figure while sitting on a tombstone. He is playing with a piece of chain with a shackle on one end. There is a pile of skulls near his own marker and he has his bony feet resting on one of them. A ghost kid is begging him to tell the story of how he died while escaping a chain gang in the Louisiana swamp. I don't think the kid is all there since he is always smiling when he is around Pir.  Maybe it's because he knows that he is not resting in peace either but haunting the local graveyard.

Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 8: Rip Figurine

Meet Rip, a figurine that I picked up at Dollar General and has to be one of the most interesting one that I picked up this year. The skeleton is still wearing the suit he was buried in. From the looks of his hat and tie, he appears to have died in the late 1800s. He's sitting on a tomstone with one foot on his own marker. His companion is Jack, a pumpkin that always grin no matter what situation they face. He has a lot of tales to tell including the one that the skull next to his other foot told him.

Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 6: DC Swamp Thing Premieres Tonight on The CW

If you missed watching last year's live action Swamp Thing tv series on the DC Universe like I did (I don't do streaming services especially if you have to pay for them because I'm a poor fanboy), then you are in luck because all ten episodes will be appearing on The CW starting tonight. I have read nothing but good reviews so I will be watching. Yes, Adrienne Barbeau appears on the show but as Dr. Palomar, the assistant director of the CDC (you may remember her as Alice Cable in the 1982 movie version of Swamp Thing).

Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 5: Boo Dog Figurine

I picked up this Boo dog figurine at the local Dollar General. It is wearing a black witch's hat with orange trim and a orange cape. You can't really see the hat and cape in the picture because I wanted to be sure that the Boo sign is visible. I couldn't resist since it was only a dollar.

Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 4: Cackling Broom Witch

This cackling broom witch was picked up at the local Dollar Tree. Not only does she cackle but she also lights up in red, blue and green. She is also motion activated so you set her up and wait for someone to pass by to set her off. Pretty good deal for a dollar

Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 2: Limited Edition Spooky Junior Mints Box

I actually picked up a box of the Limited Edition Spooky Junior Mints at the local Walmart's in the middle of September for a dollar. The black-centered ones outnumbered the orange-centered ones (yes, I bit each one to see what color they were). These are better if you put them in the refrigerator for a day or two because they don't stand up to the heat very well just like the regular Junior Mints. I do like the black and orange packaging with bats and dead trees in a graveyard with a full moon in the background.

Countdown to Halloween 2020 Day 1: Grimm Tales of Terror Quarterly: Hellfire

Welcome to day 1 of Countdown to Halloween 2020 at Moongem Comics. This year we kick off the spook fest with Cover A of Grimm Tales of Terror Quarterly: Hellfire from Zenescope Entertainment.

"For centuries the Order of the Secret Circle has lurked in the shadows, reinventing itself for each new generation and going by many names; the Order of the Temple of the East, the Order of Knights and The Hellfire Club, it seeks to bend the nine demons of hell to its will. In 1912, Aleister Crowley took control of Hellfire and attempted to bring the Great Beast under his control. While ultimately failing, the ripples from that dark spell echo to the present, calling forth a new congregation who seek to reform Hellfire and tap into the evil power it promises."

Women Wednesday: Wonder Woman Jumbo Coloring & Activity Book 2020

I bought the Wonder Woman Jumbo Coloring & Activity Book 2020 at the local Dollar Tree last week. I'm pretty sure it was published by Bendon to concide with the Wonder Woman 1984 movie, which has been pushed back again to Christmas 2020. The cover is a close up of the Amazon Princess:

The back cover features a bonus cut out of Wonder Woman on horseback with her magic lasso in one hand:
