Countdown to Christmas 2023 Day 9: A Home For KAKEman Book

If you grew up in Kansas in the 1970s and 1980s, then you may have fond memories of KAKEman. He was the toy assistant to Santa Claus (Henry Harvey) on Santa's Workshop, which appeared on KAKE (Channel 10) every weekday afternoon in December. He became Toyboy when the tv show switched to KWCH (Channel 12). Now he's back in a children's book by Cassidy Sutton titled A Home For KAKEman. All proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Wichita to help families of children with critical conditions to receive the support they need.

Countdown to Christmas 2023 Day 7: Creepshow Holiday Special 2023 #1 Cover

Out now is the Creepshow Holiday Special 2023 #1 from Image and Skybound. The Creep is your horror host for two chilling Christmas tales. The first tale is titled "Christmas Man" and shows why you should always hang your Christmas stockings. The second tale is titled "Package Thieves" and shows what happens when porch pirates are visited by the spirts of taking. If you are a horror fan and enjoy the Creepshow movie and tv series, then you will greatly enjoy this issue.

Countdown to Christmas 2023 Day 6: Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight #1 Cover

DC Comics released Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight #1 today. The cover features Superman reading a classic Batman comic book from the Golden Age to a boy sitting on his lap. Santa Claus is pictured in the "word balloon" above Superman. Batman and Wonder Woman are in the background along with a bunch of wicked bat-like creatures.

The issue is titled "Ghosts of Christmas Past" and starts with Batman and Robin (Damian) investigating the deaths of carolers murdered by bat-like creatures. Robin's first thought is that Man-Bat is the culprit but then Zatanna shows up to reveal that the creatures are the Draug, which are Nordic vampires. They are attacked by the Draug and Santa Claus shows up on Prancer. Batgirl and Nightwing are then shown fighting the Draug before Santa Claus and his new friends joins them.

There's more to the story but I won't spoil it all here. Yeah, this Christmas tale is nice horror element and I can't wait to read Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight #2. Maybe next year, DC Comics will put out a Santa Claus, Vampire Hunter mini-series that will last from October to December.

Countdown to Christmas 2023 Day 4: Batman: The Animated Series Gold Batmobile

I didn't think I would find the Batman: The Animated Series Gold Batmobile in any of the local stores so I put it on my Christmas wish list. I was suprised to find one at the local Walmart's this past Saturday. It's #5 in the Batman subset and #169 of 250 in the 2023 main set.

Women Wednesday: Photon Funko Pop

Disney Movie Insiders had two new Funko Pops promoting The Marvels movie a few weeks ago. One was Captain Marvel for 800 points and the other was Photon for 500 points. I had enough points to get either one but not both. Since the Photon Funko Pop was for a limited time, I decided to get that one. I'm so glad that I did too because she's awesome and the photos below does not do her justice. There are six figures in this set that includes Captain Marvel, Photon, Ms. Marvel, Dar-Benn, Nick Fury and Prince Yan.

McDonald's Ms. Marvel Mini Figurine

Last Tuesday found me getting another Disney 100 Happy Meal from the local McDonald's. I got the usual cheeseburger, fries and Coke. I also got Stitch and Ms. Marvel mini figurines. The Stitch figurine will probably go to my sister since she loves the little alien. My favorite of the two, of course, is Ms. Marvel. The mini figurine stands at 2 1/4" tall including the clear base. She has both arms raised and her left is all purple to indicate that she is using her powers.

Women Wednesday: Introducing Drummer from Outsiders #1

Outsiders #1 from DC Comics hits the newsstands today. On the cover are Luke Fox aka Batwing, Kate Kane aka Batwoman and Drummer. Fans of WildStorm's Planetary will know the name but this is a new character. This is like the twelfth version of the Outsiders not including specials (volume 3 lasted for fifty issues plus an annual from 2003 to 2007). This issue starts a twelve-issue series.

Cleaning Moongem Comics Concludes

I finished cleaning Moongem Comics this afternoon. I deleted a lot of posts including those promoting SuperHeroStuff t-shirts, dead links and trailers.

 I did some more cleaning up of posts here at Moongem Comics this afternoon. This time around I deleted a lot of posts with dead pictures and videos between 2010 and 2013. Most of them dealt with movie trailers and various t-shirts.

Cleaning Moongem Comics 2006 to 2009

I have spent a few hours today cleaning posts on Moongem Comics from 2006 to 2009. I got rid of some broken images especially those from PhotoBucket (remember when they used to be good?) and broken videos.

Here is the McDonald's Groot mini figurine that I got in the Disney 100 Happy Meal. He's 2 1/4" tall and was a little hard to photograph since he has a clear base.

Women Wednesday: Birds of Prey 2023 #1-3 Covers

I didn't pay much attention to the new Birds of Prey #1 that came out in September from DC Comics. Maybe it was because the new team consists of Black Canary, Batgirl (the Cassandra Cain version), Harley Quinn, Big Barda and Zealot (you remember her from WildC.A.T.S. right?). Dinah gathers the women together in order to find her sister, Sin. John Constantine shows up in Birds of Prey #2 to help out Dinah and King Shark shows up towards the end. What really drew me into the series is the cover of #3 because it has that very worn and used look to it plus the Birds look to be facing Wonder Woman. She does appear within the issue along with Green Arrow, who was last seen at the beginning of the first issue.
