Maintenance Monday at Moongem Comics

I just spent the last hour removing Amazon ads from about fifty posts here at Moongem Comics. Mostly it was due to them being outdated. I still have a wishlist with a few items still on it.

Sexy Saturday: DC Comics Bombshells #1

What if women donned costumes first is the basic concept behind DC Comics Bombshells. The first digital issue hit the Internet today while the print version will be released August 12. The cover is by Ant Lucia while the interior art is by Marguerite Sauvage. The issue was written by Marguerite Bennett. There are some spoilers in this post so don't read if you don't want to know.

The issue kicks off with the mysterious Batwoman saving a very familiar wealthy family from a robber in Gotham City in 1940:

By day, she is also a female baseball player for the Gotham Knights:

Her girlfriend is Gotham City Police Detective Maggie Sawyer and she seems to have a really adventurous history:

Commander Amanda Waller shows up to enlist their help to end the war:

Not a bad start to the three-part series and I can't wait until the next issue. There are a few upskirt shots along with Kate and Maggie wearing lingerie. The art does have a pinup vibe, which is good considering that this is based on the Bombshells statues that were produced.

First Official Suicide Squad Look from Comic Con

Here's the first official look of the Suicide Squad movie from Comic Con with some interesting scenes featuring Amanda Waller, Harley Quinn, the Joker, El Diablo, Rick Flagg, Captain Boomerang and Killer Croc (yes, even Batman makes an appearance):

Thrift Store Finds: Razer, Tarzan and Megamind Minion

I actually picked up the following toys at a local thrift store on Saturday morning. All three were in the same bag for fifty cents. Not bad considering all the weeks that I haven't found anything.

Razer the renegade Red Lantern action figure is the sixth toy from McDonald's Green Lantern Animated Series Power Ups that was put in Happy Meals in 2012. His arms move 360* and his chest lights up when you push the button on his back.

This Tarzan is from McDonald's Disney 100 Years of Magic that was put in 2002 Happy Meals. The only movement is that the figurine rotates 360* on the base.

This McDonald's Megamind Minion top is from 2010 and was #7 in the series. The arms move up a little when he spins.

New Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer Released

But you have to go here to watch it for the video is way too big for this blog. I'm not really digging Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman is shown way too briefly. It's a wonder that Batman can actually move in his battle suit.

Changes to Moongem Comics

You may have noticed a few changes here at Moongem Comics. For starters, I have transferred the tag cloud from the right side to the bottom. Yes, there is a lot of tags now and it looks like they could fill a page on their own. I have also dropped the SuperHeroStuff banner and link on the right side. Seems like it just wasting space since it was barely getting any clicks let alone any sales over the past year. I'm thinking of doing away the weekly T-shirt Thursday posts but I haven't decided yet.

According to Newsarama's ALICE COOPER Returns To Comic Books With EVIL ERNIE Crossover, September 2015 will see the launch of Alice Cooper vs Chaos! five issue mini series from Dynamite Entertainment. Not only will he crossover with Evil Ernie but Chastity, Purgatori and the Chosen will also appear.

Tom Holland is the New Spider-Man

According to the Real Stan Lee, Tom Holland has been cast as the next Spider-Man by Sony. He is a nineteen year old English actor best known for his lead role in Billy Elliot the Musical. The new Spider-Man is expected to crossover in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War and then his solo movie is expected to be released on July 28, 2017.

Doctor Strange Finally Gets New Series

According to Comics Alliance, Doctor Strange is getting a new series thanks to Jason Aaron and Chris Bachalo. However, there will be some differences such as him wearing sneakers and using weapons such as battle axe and bow.

Death in the Family and Goodnight Christopher Lee

You may have noticed a lack of posts this week. The reason is because my Uncle Kenny died last Thursday night at the age of 75 after fighting COPD for the past few years. His funeral was yesterday afternoon and I still can't believe that he's gone. He never married or had any kids but he did serve two years in the United States Army.

The first news that I read this afternoon after getting online was the death of Sir Christopher Lee at 93. Kind of bummer to see that the legendary actor that has played in so many horror movies have passed on.

Women Wednesday: Superwoman vs Wonder Woman

One of the women does rise out of the rubble but that's the last page that I don't want to spoil here so you need to pick up the issue and find out who wins for yourself.

DC's Infinite Crisis Game Shutting Down

Bad news for DC's INFINITE CRISIS Game Shutting Down In August. The game started only three months ago and no reason yet has been given for the shut down. I have always wanted to play it but never got around to it so there seems to be no point in doing so now.
