Women Wednesday: The Death of Elvira

From the Official Elvira Newsletter:

"Celebrate Elvira's 40th Anniversary With This Landmark Original Comic Book Issue - Who Killed Elvira? The fiends at Dynamite have done the unthinkable. After four frightening decades, they're fitting the Mistress of the Dark with a curvy coffin! Elvira's never let something like death get in her way before. She'll be telling all the stories that lead up to the dastardly deed and walking you through a who's who of would-be assassins. Can you figure out who done it?"

"This diabolical tale is a huge 40 page whopper of a comic book, written by David Avallone and illustrated by Silvia Califano. These two masters of the macabre deliver Elvira her final rites in stylish fashion with beautiful art that captures all of her amazing, uh... assets. Even something as monumental as her own DEATH won't stop Elvira from uncovering the truth, and you can be there every step of the way!"

Women Wednesday: Preeti Desai as Golden Goddess

I binge watched Netflix's The Guardians of Justice original series this weekend. I wished they would have shown more of Preeti Desai as Golden Goddess because she's a hot Wonder Woman knock off. In fact, the Gaurdians are a parody of the Justice League. The animated/live action series basically deals with Knight Hawk (Dallas Diamond Page) investigating the death of Marvelous Man (Will Yun Lee) in 1987. He even suspects his fellow members of the Guardians of Justice. I highly recommend watching the seven episodes if you get the chance.

Batman Stickers From Dollar Tree

I picked up this pack of ninety-six Batman stickers from the local Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. There are four sheets with twenty-four stickers on each sheet but there are only eight different stickers. Batman has four different stickers while Man-Bat, Killer Croc, Joker and Two-Face each has one sticker. They should have called this set Batman and His Villains set. Maybe there will be one with the various Robins and Batgirls in the Bat Family Stickers packs in the future. Yes, the pack of stickers cost me $1.25 thanks to Dollar Tree raising their prices but it's still a cool addition to my sticker collection.

Hot Wheels Arkham Asylum 2021 Green Batmobile

You can't tell by the picture below but this is a green Batmobile. It doesn't look green either unless it is under very bright lights. Officially, it's the Hot Wheels #32 Batman: Arkham Asylum Batmobile (#2 in the Batman subset of five). There is supposedly another color, which I presume is black. I found this green version at the local Walmart's yesterday. The copyright date on the back reads 2021 so it's for the 2022 line (yes, it's confusing just like years for real cars).

Women Wednesday: Die!Namite Never Dies #1 Cover Gallery

Die!Namite Never Dies #1 is out from Dynamite Entertainment. The cover gallery pages shows various covers featuring Red Sonja and/or Vampirella either as their normal selves or as zombies. There is even a variant cover with Gracie the Cosplay Lass as Vampirella. However, there are no covers featuring Pantha, Tarzan or Jane. You can imagine my surprise when I read the story that featured mostly the Lord of the Jungle. I think there needs to be some beefcake covers too for future issues.

Thena Thursday: Thena Funko Pop

I received this Thena Funko Pop on Monday, which was Valentine's Day. I was going to post about it yesterday for this week's Women Wednesday post but I had a dentist appointment and just plain didn't feel like writing. I used my points at Disney Movie Insiders (formerly known as Disney Movie Rewards) to get her since she was on clearance. This is my first regular size Funko Pop even though I have gotten the Hulk Pocket Pop Keychain, Iron Man Pocket Pop Keychain and Captain America Pocket Pop Keychain in 2015. I always wanted Thena since Angelina Jolie plays her in The Eternals movie and I'm a big fan of hers.

Superhero Valentines At Dollar Tree

I picked up three boxes of this year's superhero Valentines at the local Dollar Tree. That proved to be a bit of a mistake on my part. First off is the Avengers Valentines, which is the same as last year's Avengers Valentines except that it has the following stickers:

This year's Batman Valentines is the exact same box and cards from last year (you can view them here.

Finally, the Spider-Man Valentines is basically the same box from 2020 (you can view it here) and the bonus of having the following stickers:

There are a few different Spider-Man Valentine cards this year along with some different text but the backs are the same. Here are this year's cards:

I'm thinking this is the last year for getting any superhero-related Valentines.

Women Wednesday: Red Sonja Valentine's Special 2022

There will be no daily Countdown to Valentine's Day this year at Moongem Comics due to several reasons. However, I will be posting random items every few days or so to celebrate Valentine's Day. Today's post features the first three covers  plus the cover gallery to Dynamite Entertainment's Red Sonja Valentine's Special 2022. The story has a little bit of romance and a lot of bloody gore.

Goodnight, Meat Loaf

Very sad news for Meat Loaf: Bat Out of Hell singer dead at 74. Not only was he a great singer but a great actor too. I have worn out my Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack album on cassette and vhs movie along with my Bat Out of Hell cd. I used to have almost all of his albums on cassettes but I wore most of them out to the point of breaking. There will never be another Meat Loaf and the world is a much sadder for it.
