Wildcat Coming To Arrow

At least that's the news according to SuperHeroHype's J.R. Ramirez Cast as Wildcat Season 3. I'm used to seeing an older Ted Grant so seeing a younger one will be interesting.

Amazing Spider-Man Portfolios 2014 Edition

I went shopping at the local Wal-Mart's Super Center so I could stock up on my fish oil pills (yes, I'm taking them for my cholesterol) when I decided to check out the back to school section. I found four new Amazing Spider-Man portfolios for ninety-seven cents each. I had to get them at that price for my portfolio collection even though I was hoping to find some with Batman. They did have a set with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but I passed on those.

None of the Amazing Spider-Man portfolios are numbered so I just put them in a random order. They are made by Innovative Designs, LLC in New York. The photos/artwork are from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie, which I have yet to see since the local theater closed about a year ago.

This one has to be my favorite of all the Amazing Spider-Man portfolios since it has a close up of Spidey about to shoot the viewer with his webbing on the front cover:

Unfortunately, I didn't find any Amazing Spider-Man notebooks if any were made. You can view my past portfolios here.

My Mego Batman

This is my 1500th post at Moongem Comics and what better way to celebrate it than with a look at my original 8" Mego Batman. His costume, gloves and one boot are long since gone. This is because I actually played with him when I was a kid like I did with all my toys. At least, my Mego Batman is all in one piece unlike my Ken and G.I. Joe dolls...er, action figures.

I remember my mother buying Batman for me and Robin for my little sister. I have no clue whatever happened to him but somehow I got his red vest with the attached yellow cape.

I do wish that I had his costume, gloves and other boot along with the original box that he came in. I also wish that my little sister still had her Robin. At least, we still have good memories of playing together with them as kids.

Vending Machine Marvel Super Hero Squad Tattoos

One of the vending machines at the local retail store where I work switched from glitter rose tattoos to Marvel Super Hero Squad tattoos from 2009 last week. There are twelve tattoos to collect and here is the insert that I found online:

I only had enough quarters for three since each tattoo is fifty cents. Here is Captain America tattoo, which is the fifth in the set:

Here is the Hulk tattoo (I couldn't make out the number of the back since it was printed on the logo):

Here is Spider-Man, which is actually the first of the set:

Here is what the back of the Spider-Man Marvel Super Hero Squad tattoo looks like:

I thought about posting one tattoo for the next three days but I decided to make one big post about them. I don't know if I will get more of these or not since I'm out of quarters. I might have to get a roll of quarters to see if I can get the rest.

Blog Alert: Firestorm Fan

It has been a while since I posted about a blog that I like so I'm doing so now. Firestorm Fan is all about the Nuclear Man from DC Comics so check his page out.

Please note that I have gone through my favorite blog and site links and deleted a few that no longer exist or I have problems loading. I don't even want to know what happened to Hey! Look At My Toys! blog.

Thrift Store Find: After the Golden Age by Carrie Vaughn

I did a little thrift store hunting yesterday afternoon and I picked up After the Golden Age by Carrie Vaughn (Tor, February 2012) for a dollar. Here is the front cover of the paperback book:

I actually read the first page after I got it but I have to wait to read any more because I am currently reading Circle of Desire by Keri Arthur.

Breaking News: Brandon Routh Cast as the Atom on Arrow

Who needs a big screen Justice League movie when most of my favorites are coming to the small screen. The Flash is already getting his own tv show this fall while Ray Palmer aka the Atom will be appearing on season three of Arrow. Check out the exciting Comic Book Resources news at Bradon Routh Cast as The Atom on "Arrow":

Horror Comic Alert: Calavera The Undead #1‏

I recently received a cool promo email from Richard Boom. He alerted me to a new horror comic book that is now available in print and digital copies called Calavera The Undead from Hangman Comics. The art and story is by Nevin Arnold, who is known as the writer of 2005's Honor Of The Damned.

Here's the quick synopsis:

"Calavera, a fun loving 80's rocker chick, falls to her death in 1989 only to instantaneously awaken in the year 2012. Now essentially a super powered zombie, deteriorating day by day, and sharing her body with a mysterious entity, this most unlikely heroine may be our last hope as dark forces plot to destroy civilization as we know it!"

And here's the digital cover:

Thrift Store Find: Unknown Red Dinosaur Toy

Finally, the last toy in the third toy bag that I recently picked up at a local thrift store is an unknown red dinosaur with blue wheels and a chrome head. The wheels do not move and the head looks robotic. The red hard plastic body is transparent. The chrome head can be pushed back and locked into place. The tail can be pushed down to release the head. The markings inside the head says that it was manufactured by b.little and made in China but no year is printed on it. There is a D shaped hole on the back that suggests something was attached to it like a saddle or weapon.

Thrift Store Find: Mysterious Mini Blue Robot

Yep, I have another unknown action figure that I need help to identify. This mysterious mini blue robot is only 3" tall. It was found in the third thrift store bag that I picked up. The head tilts pretty far back, the arms only move at the shoulders, the upper torso moves right below the red blotch, and the legs move where they are connected to the lower torso. While the mysterious mini blue robot is molded blue, the eyes are red and there are some areas that appear to be dark gray (mouthpiece, chest knob, lower torso spring and hands).

The hole on the back is six sided and appears that something could be attached to it.

Thrift Store Find: Unknown Bug Man

I'm pretty sure this unknown bug man is from the Imaginext line since he is the same design style and size of my Space Shuttle crewmen. However, I can't seem to find any online information about him yet. His orange bug-like helmet is removable to reveal that his costume is mostly black with yellow and orange stripes. He was in the third bag of toys that I picked up at a local thrift store. If anyone has any information about him, then please feel free to post in the comments.

Update: I found out that he is Imaginext's Sky Racers Sea Stinger.
