Black Canary and Green Arrow With Full Moon

I found these images featuring Black Canary and Green Arrow by Alex Ross with different backgrounds when I was trying to create desktop wallpapers from 2001. I really like them in front of the full moon. I thought I would share them just because I can.

Happy 8th Blogiversary To Moongem Comics

Hard to believe that it has been eight years since I started Moongem Comics. I have made some wonderful friends and lost a few as well.

I went on a quest this morning after working at my boring offline job (maintenance at a local discount store) in search of a comic related birthday card. I was hoping to find one for an eight year old but all I could find was Disney Princesses and baseball cards. I did find some musical Batman and Superman birthday cards but they were rather pricey and I like getting inexpensive items as you can tell by my finds at the local thrift stores. I finally found a Justice League birthday card with a create your own comic book inside at the local Walmart's for only $3.97. I decided to have a little fun with it and post the results here.

The front features Superman, The Flash, Batman and Green Lantern as the Justice League (kind of bummed that Wonder Woman was not included):

The Justice League create a card comes with repostionable stickers that include sound effects, logos and team members:

Superman starts things off:

Batman and The Flash share a page:

Green Lantern shares a page with a shot of the Justice League gathered together:

I'm expecting the logo for Doctor Who to pop up any second now:

Here's the special message for the birthday boy:

This Justice League create a comic card was produced in China for Hallmark. Odd that no year was printed on it.

Finally, here are the front and back of the envelope that came with the Justice League create a comic birthday card:

Plastique Coming To The Flash

News for The Flash fans for Kelly Freye has been cast as Plastique and will be appearing in the fifth episode of season one:

I for one can't wait to see her costume and using her explosive powers.

Wildcat Coming To Arrow

At least that's the news according to SuperHeroHype's J.R. Ramirez Cast as Wildcat Season 3. I'm used to seeing an older Ted Grant so seeing a younger one will be interesting.

Amazing Spider-Man Portfolios 2014 Edition

I went shopping at the local Wal-Mart's Super Center so I could stock up on my fish oil pills (yes, I'm taking them for my cholesterol) when I decided to check out the back to school section. I found four new Amazing Spider-Man portfolios for ninety-seven cents each. I had to get them at that price for my portfolio collection even though I was hoping to find some with Batman. They did have a set with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but I passed on those.

None of the Amazing Spider-Man portfolios are numbered so I just put them in a random order. They are made by Innovative Designs, LLC in New York. The photos/artwork are from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie, which I have yet to see since the local theater closed about a year ago.

Sorry about some of the flash spots in some of the pictures but the flash brought out the colors.

This one has to be my favorite of all the Amazing Spider-Man portfolios since it has a close up of Spidey about to shoot the viewer with his webbing on the front cover:

This one is also nice:

Unfortunately, I didn't find any Amazing Spider-Man notebooks if any were made. You can view my past portfolios here.

Happy Batman Day

I honestly forgot all about Batman Day until my Facebook feed was flooded with posts.

Women Wednesday: Lucy Lawless Coming To Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Fans of Lucy Lawless will be filled with glee after reading Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. adds Warrior Princess:

I know that I will be tuning in for sure.

My Mego Batman

This is my 1500th post at Moongem Comics and what better way to celebrate it than with a look at my original 8" Mego Batman. His costume, gloves and one boot are long since gone. This is because I actually played with him when I was a kid like I did with all my toys. At least, my Mego Batman is all in one piece unlike my Ken and G.I. Joe dolls...er, action figures.

I remember my mother buying Batman for me and Robin for my little sister. I have no clue whatever happened to him but somehow I got his red vest with the attached yellow cape.

I do wish that I had his costume, gloves and other boot along with the original box that he came in. I also wish that my little sister still had her Robin. At least, we still have good memories of playing together with them as kids.

Women Wednesday: New Female Thor Announced

According to Marvel Announces New Female Thor from Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman on the View, she will be hitting newsstands in her own series in October.

Vending Machine Marvel Super Hero Squad Tattoos

One of the vending machines at the local retail store where I work switched from glitter rose tattoos to Marvel Super Hero Squad tattoos from 2009 last week. There are twelve tattoos to collect and here is the insert that I found online:

I only had enough quarters for three since each tattoo is fifty cents. Here is Captain America tattoo, which is the fifth in the set:

Here is the Hulk tattoo (I couldn't make out the number of the back since it was printed on the logo):

Here is Spider-Man, which is actually the first of the set:

Here is what the back of the Spider-Man Marvel Super Hero Squad tattoo looks like:

I thought about posting one tattoo for the next three days but I decided to make one big post about them. I don't know if I will get more of these or not since I'm out of quarters. I might have to get a roll of quarters to see if I can get the rest.

Blog Alert: Firestorm Fan

It has been a while since I posted about a blog that I like so I'm doing so now. Firestorm Fan is all about the Nuclear Man from DC Comics so check his page out.

Please note that I have gone through my favorite blog and site links and deleted a few that no longer exist or I have problems loading. I don't even want to know what happened to Hey! Look At My Toys! blog.
