Thrift Store Find: Power Punch Batman

I recently picked up a Power Punch Batman action figure for a dollar at a local thrift store. He is from the Batman Begins line from Mattel. Standing at 5 1/2 inches, he has a battle damage costume. You can twist his upper torso to the right until he locks in place. There is a small button in the back of his utility belt that is pressed to make him use his power punch ability.

Unfortunately, none of his accessories were found including his cape.

Thrift Store Find: Hydro Suit Batman

I hit a few of the local thrift stores yesterday afternoon and found a 2003 Hydro Suit Batman from Mattel for only a dollar. This is a pretty cool action figure because his costume is green, his gauntlets are webbed and he has flippers on his feet. He's pretty tall too for he stands almost seven inches.

Unfortunately, he did not come with any accessories such as his bat-shaped breathing tank.

Happy 8th Blogiversary To Moongem Comics

Hard to believe that it has been eight years since I started Moongem Comics. I have made some wonderful friends and lost a few as well.

I went on a quest this morning after working at my boring offline job (maintenance at a local discount store) in search of a comic related birthday card. I was hoping to find one for an eight year old but all I could find was Disney Princesses and baseball cards. I did find some musical Batman and Superman birthday cards but they were rather pricey and I like getting inexpensive items as you can tell by my finds at the local thrift stores. I finally found a Justice League birthday card with a create your own comic book inside at the local Walmart's for only $3.97. I decided to have a little fun with it and post the results here.

The front features Superman, The Flash, Batman and Green Lantern as the Justice League (kind of bummed that Wonder Woman was not included):

This Justice League create a comic card was produced in China for Hallmark. Odd that no year was printed on it.

Plastique Coming To The Flash

News for The Flash fans for Kelly Freye has been cast as Plastique and will be appearing in the fifth episode of season one:

I for one can't wait to see her costume and using her explosive powers.

Wildcat Coming To Arrow

At least that's the news according to SuperHeroHype's J.R. Ramirez Cast as Wildcat Season 3. I'm used to seeing an older Ted Grant so seeing a younger one will be interesting.

Captain Carrot On The Multiversity #1 Cover

Captain Carrot is on The Multiversity #1 cover by Ivan Reis, Joe Prado and Nei Ruffino. Also featured is the black President Superman, Mary Marvel (?) and a red-skinned horned Green Lantern. The issue comes out next month and you can read more about Comics legend Grant Morrison unveils massive DC Comics event The Multiversity.

Amazing Spider-Man Portfolios 2014 Edition

I went shopping at the local Wal-Mart's Super Center so I could stock up on my fish oil pills (yes, I'm taking them for my cholesterol) when I decided to check out the back to school section. I found four new Amazing Spider-Man portfolios for ninety-seven cents each. I had to get them at that price for my portfolio collection even though I was hoping to find some with Batman. They did have a set with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but I passed on those.

None of the Amazing Spider-Man portfolios are numbered so I just put them in a random order. They are made by Innovative Designs, LLC in New York. The photos/artwork are from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie, which I have yet to see since the local theater closed about a year ago.

Sorry about some of the flash spots in some of the pictures but the flash brought out the colors.

This one has to be my favorite of all the Amazing Spider-Man portfolios since it has a close up of Spidey about to shoot the viewer with his webbing on the front cover:
