Women Wednesday: Just Imagine Wonder Woman

Today's woman is from Just Imagine Stan Lee With Jim Lee Creating Wonder Woman (August 2001) from DC Comics. Maria Mendoza becomes Wonder Woman after finding an Incan Sun God's staff of gold. Steve Trevor is an archeologist that helps Maria to find her destiny but he meets an unkind fate. I would have liked to see this series continue but it was just a one shot special.

Human Target's Second Season Begins Soon

The second season of FOX's Human Target will start Friday, October 1, 2010. Two new cast members will join the show: Ilsa Pucci as Indira Varma as Janet Montgomery as Ames. The latter will be a chameleon-like thief who has a past connection with Winston (Chi McBride). Mark Valley returns as Chance and Jackie Earle Haley is back as Guerrero.

Thrift Store Find: Amazing Spider-Man Giant Activity Pad

I found nothing on today's search through the local thrift stores. However, I am posting about the 2006 Spider-Man Giant Activity Pad that I found last week. The 7 3/4" x 5 1/4" fun booklet was originally sold at Dollar General for a dollar but I picked it up for thirty cents. The pad has coloring pages plus games and mazes. Here are just a small sample since there are about sixty-five pages featuring Spider-Man and most of his foes like the Black Cat, Green Goblin, Lizard and Venom:

The only pages of the Spider-Man Giant Activity Pad that have been marked on are two puzzle pages towards the back that was scribbled on heavily with a blue ink pen.

Thrift Store Finds: Action Figures Galore

I went to the local thrift stores yesterday afternoon and found some action figures. I instantly grabbed a bag of four figures that was marked $1.75. I only recognized the 1985 Rambo and Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer season one series but could not place the female figure or the guy with the machete. Turns out she was Anna Paquin as Rogue from The X-Men movie and he is Kraven with bullwhip swinging action (he only came with the machete).

I then found a Super Kick Spider-Man minus the Subway Sandman and Classic Venom action figures from the Spider-Man 3 series at another thrift store for fifty cents each.

McDonald's Marvel Heroes Happy Meal Toy #1: Iron Man

Yes, I snagged up the first toy in the McDonald's Marvel Heroes Happy Meal series, which just happens to Iron Man, earlier this evening. The toy has wheels on the bottom for pull back and let him "fly" action. The head is the only other movable part. Yes, the paint job on the front of Iron Man's helmet is messed up but it makes him look battle worn.

The instruction sheet also has an advertisement for Marvel Kids, where you can find digital comics, Marvel tv shows, interactive games, create your own comic, create your own super hero, character bios, fun facts, and more.

Yes, this pair of costumes were inspired by the tv series, Wonder Woman. Debra Winger first played Drusilla aka Wonder Girl in the two part story titled "The Feminum Mystique". Of course, we all know that Lynda Carter played Wonder Woman on the show. Kudos to these women for such cool costumes.

Freaky Friday: Brightest Day Poster

I had first seen this at DC Universe: The Source's Sometimes The Light Reveals The Darkest Secrets a few days ago and it just freaked me out:

Some of the high points include Hal Jordan as White Lantern bleeding, Hawkman and Hawkgirl tied to a portal gate that has hawk demons flying out of, Hawk and Dove carrying Jade, Mera looking at a skeletal Black Lantern Aquaman, the new Aqualad, Martian Manhunter playing with fire and Deadman chiseling "rise" on a headstone.

Thrift Store Find: Adam-12 #4

I actually broke down and bought this very worn copy of Adam-12 #4 (August 1974) published by Gold Key for a buck and a half last week at a local thrift store. The cover is barely hanging on and has some pieces missing. Of course, the pages are really yellow from age so I did some photo editing magic to whiten them but at least there none of them are torn. This series was based on the Adam-12 tv series starring Martin Milner as officer Peter 'Pete' Malloy and Kent McCord as rookie officer James 'Jim' Reed. This issue has two stories: "Gang War" and "Heat Wave".

The ads include embroidered cloth patches, Disneykin figurines from Gandalf Productions Co., Engravaplates, Sea-Monkeys, poster size pictures from Gandalf Productions Co., Margie gets free gifts for the whole family (also from Gandalf), 1000 decals (from guess who), incense magic (yep, from Gandalf again), 88 mini posters (ditto), The Haunting 33 1/3 record from Gayle House, a page of navel products from Gandalf, iron-on transfers from our favorite company and a free booklet titled "The Air Rifle Marksman" from Daisy.

Green Lantern On Entertainment Weekly
