Throwback Thursday: Spider-Man 1978 Parachute Figure

I picked up a small selfie light ring at the local Dollar Tree a few days ago. It's supposed to clip on a cell phone but I decided to test it out with my Olympus FE-170 digital camera (I really need to get a newer one someday). I couldn't clip the light ring on the camera but I was still able to use it. I decided to take some pictures of my old Spider-Man parachute figure from 1978. I have lost the actual parachute way back when and a lot of the paint has rubbed off. The pictures were brighter and wasn't as yellow as they usually are thanks to the bare lightbulb in my ceiling light. I still had to use GIMP to edit the contrast and brightness levels otherwise the red and blue would be dull. I need to get a different photo editor someday too because GIMP exports instead of save jpgs, which is rather annoying.

Batman Unburied on Spotify

I received an email from Spotify with the fallowing ad for Batman Unburied:

About Batman Unburied: "A serial killer known as The Harvester terrorizes Gotham City, but Batman is not coming to the rescue. In fact, Bruce Way has no memory of being the Caped Crusader at all. Instead, Bruce is a forensic pathologist, performing the autopsy on the latest victim when he's attacked by the killer himself. As Bruce's obsession with the Harvester consumes him, Dr. Thomas Wayne, head of Gotham City Hospital, orders his son to take medical leave and seek treatment from an unusual psychologist, Dr. Hunter. With Batman missing in action, Detective Barbara Gordon is left with no other choice but to seek help from Gotham's second smartest detective: The Riddler."

Batman Unburied trailer and episodes #1-3:

Batman Unburied episodes #4-6:

I decided to listen today as I write this post. I'm on the second episode now and it's pretty good so check it out if you have Spotify (if you don't, then you better get it).

Women Wednesday: Storm from X-Men Red #1 and 2

I missed Marvel's X-Men Red #1 last month but Storm plays a major part in the series. The second issue came out today and the series is basically about what happens after the X-men terraform Mars. The first issue's cover features Storm, Magneto and Sunspot while the second issue's cover features Storm and Vulcan. The first issue also features a hot shot of Storm on page 34. Appologies for having the images reversed for somehow I lost the ability to copy and paste the code while editing the html.

Women Wednesday: Wonder Woman Forever Stamp

I actually found this canceled Wonder Woman Forever Stamp in a grab bag of 300 stamps that I picked up on my last road trip a few months ago. This is from 2016 and the only comic-related stamp that I found in the bag. Yes, I have a small stamp collection. Well, it's bigger now thanks to the grab bag. I still have the Supergirl stamp on my Superman Bulletin Board.

Final Faction First Impact: The Origin Story #1

To my suprise, I found Final Faction First Impact: The Origin Story #1 at the local Dollar Tree this morning. The comic book was sealed in a cheap plastic bag that I quickly discarded and is based on the cartoon, which is based on the action figures. I never paid them any attention but I guess they came out in 2021. The inside of the front cover features photos of the Final Faction action figures and accessories. They also include the space aliens known as the Kharns. There are no ads in the comic book but the inside of the back cover features ad parodies such as Final Faction Cola and Sarge's Cookie Company. The comic book is only twenty pages long and I can't remember the last time I bought a comic book for $1.25. The story and art has the feel of the old G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero but with aliens. I have scanned and shared the front and back covers along with the first three pages below. The issue has no publisher information but I can only assume that it was published by Greenbier International, Inc. since they also produce the Final Faction toy line.

Women Wednesday: Sersi Funko Pop

I was lucky enough to quickly build up enough reward points for this Sersi Funko Pop that was on clearance at Disney Movie Insiders. She is #728 and is based on Marvel's Eternals movie. I received it last week but not in time for the Women Wednesday post. Her body is really tiny while her head is really huge. This causes problems trying to stand her up outside of the box. It also didn't help that the huge head is bent backwards a little bit thanks to the spring. She is still a pretty cool figure and will go next to my Thena Funko Pop that I also got from Disney Movie Insiders. She is played by Gemma Chan in the movie.

Women Wednesday: The Death of Elvira

From the Official Elvira Newsletter:

"Celebrate Elvira's 40th Anniversary With This Landmark Original Comic Book Issue - Who Killed Elvira? The fiends at Dynamite have done the unthinkable. After four frightening decades, they're fitting the Mistress of the Dark with a curvy coffin! Elvira's never let something like death get in her way before. She'll be telling all the stories that lead up to the dastardly deed and walking you through a who's who of would-be assassins. Can you figure out who done it?"

"This diabolical tale is a huge 40 page whopper of a comic book, written by David Avallone and illustrated by Silvia Califano. These two masters of the macabre deliver Elvira her final rites in stylish fashion with beautiful art that captures all of her amazing, uh... assets. Even something as monumental as her own DEATH won't stop Elvira from uncovering the truth, and you can be there every step of the way!"

Women Wednesday: Preeti Desai as Golden Goddess

I binge watched Netflix's The Guardians of Justice original series this weekend. I wished they would have shown more of Preeti Desai as Golden Goddess because she's a hot Wonder Woman knock off. In fact, the Gaurdians are a parody of the Justice League. The animated/live action series basically deals with Knight Hawk (Dallas Diamond Page) investigating the death of Marvelous Man (Will Yun Lee) in 1987. He even suspects his fellow members of the Guardians of Justice. I highly recommend watching the seven episodes if you get the chance.

Batman Stickers From Dollar Tree

I picked up this pack of ninety-six Batman stickers from the local Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. There are four sheets with twenty-four stickers on each sheet but there are only eight different stickers. Batman has four different stickers while Man-Bat, Killer Croc, Joker and Two-Face each has one sticker. They should have called this set Batman and His Villains set. Maybe there will be one with the various Robins and Batgirls in the Bat Family Stickers packs in the future. Yes, the pack of stickers cost me $1.25 thanks to Dollar Tree raising their prices but it's still a cool addition to my sticker collection.
