Countdown to Valentine's Day 2020 Day 2: Marvel Avengers Endgame 32 Valentines

The Marvel Avengers Endgame 32 Valentines was another item that I picked up last week at the local Dollar Tree. Not only does the front of the box feature the usual members of the Avengers but also characters from Guardians of the Galaxy including Rocket Racoon.

The back of the box displays the eight different Valentine cards plus a sample back:

The first four Marvel Avengers Endgame Valentines features Steve Rogers without his Captain America mask, the redheaded Black Widow (she was blonde in the Infinity War Valentines that I covered yesterday), Iron Man and the Hulk in a jumpsuit:

The backs of the first four cards:

The last four Marvel Avengers Endgame Valentines features Rocket Racoon, Thor, Hawkeye and the basic members of the Avengers on an extra wide card:

The back of the extra wide card features the hooded Hawkeye and Thanos:

I really like the look and sayings of these Valentine Day cards. I was surprised that Thanos didn't get his own card like he did with the Avengers Infinity War set. This box also includes a sheet of red hart-shaped stickers.

Countdown to Valentine's Day 2020 Day 1: Avengers Infinity War Valentines With Thumb Tattoos

I picked this box of Marvel Avengers Infinity War 32 Valentines with 32 Thumb Tattoos last week at the local Dollar Tree. You can declare a thumb war with your friends. This is a pretty tall box at 10-1/2" considering that the sheet of thumb tattoos is the longest item at 8".

Each thumb tattoo is 1" x 1-1/2" and includes such Marvel superheroes as Vision, Hulk, Iron Man, Groot, Black Panther, Black Widow, Doctor Strange and Spder-Man

Eight Valentine cards are all connected on a strip and there are four strips. The first four includes Black Widow, Iron Man, Black Panther and Steve Rogers not in his Captain America costume.

The backs of the first four Valentine cards:

The last four includes Vision, Thor, Spider-Man and Thanos, who gets an extra wide one since he's so big.

The back of the extra wide Thanos Valentine card not only includes him but also includes the movie version of Doctor Strange in a circle and the comic version of Scarlet Witch.

There is also a sheet of 32 red heart stickers that I didn't scan. Overall, the artwork on the Valentine cards and thumb tattoos are not bad.

I originally posted this video clip of Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman meeting Olivia Newton John on July 16, 2007 but that post is now invalid so I thought I would repost it today in celebration of Wonder Woman #750 that came out yesterday:

Superhero Sunday: JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time

I did a little shopping at the local Dollar Tree yesterday morning and found this odd superhero movie. JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time is a original movie that came out on DVD in 2014 and is not based on any comic book. It opens with the Justice League of America that includes Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Robin, Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman battling the Legion of Doom that includes Lex Luthor, Toyman, Black Mantra, Solomon Grundy, Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, Cheetah and Bizarro fighting in the Arctic. The Super Friends...er, JLA defeats the Legion of Doom but Lex Luthor is presumed dead.
Jump to the 31st Century where the teenage Dawnstar and Karate Kid are taking a tour of a superhero museum where Lex Luthor is encased in a block of ice. Karate Kid thinks they should already be members of the Legion of Super-Heroes and decides to show off. He acts like he is going to punch the block of ice holding Luthor but stops short. Of course, the ice breaks anyway and the super villain awakes from his suspended animation sleep. He watches a hologram video of Superman's origins and finds that he is actually Clark Kent. Lex steals the hourglass belonging to the trapped Time Trapper and goes back in time with Dawnstar and Karate Kid following.
Lex Luthor gathers most of the Legion of Doom because Captain Cold, Black Mantra and Gorilla Grodd decided to pass. Dawnstar and Karate Kid overhear Luthor's plans before sneaking out of the Legion of Doom's flying helmet headquarters that was floating in a swamp. The teenage superhero wannabes make their way to the Hall of Justice but Robin attacks them. The Super Friends...er, JLA break up the fight and hear what the future superhero wannabes have to say. I won't spoil the rest here but it basically deals with the Legion of Doom going back to Smallville to prevent the Kents from taking in baby Kal El.

I could swear that I was watching a bizarre episode of the Super Friends except for the different costumes and personalities of Superman (no trunks), Batman (angrier), Robin (attitude), Wonder Woman (sword and skirted armor) and Aquman (short sleeves). Even Dawnstar and Karate Kid were a lot different looking than they were in the 1970s. Despite the changes, I actually found myself enjoying the animated movie more than I thought I would. There are some funny moments especially when the Legion of Doom tries to take Superbaby and send him back into space. If you want an oddity to your collection of superhero cartoons, then you might want to get a copy here.

Science Fiction Saturday: Death Star Droid 1978 Action Figure

I retrieved a few boxes that had been stored in my grandmother's garage for the past thirty years or so. Among the various toys was this Death Star Droid action figure produced by Kenner in 1978. The Star Wars robot is still in good condition considering that it was loose. I used to play with him when my sister and I played with our three level homemade dollhouse that my mother and step-dad made. We had to toss the dollhouse out a few years ago due the fact that it was falling apart. The Death Star Droid 1978 action figure is for sale if anybody wants it. Either post a comment below or contact me at jamdinbard@hotmail.com.

Miniature Aquaman and Flash Figurines

I found these miniature Aquaman and Flash figurines at the local Dollar Tree yesterday. The store has only been open for about six months and this has been my biggest find there so far. They are 3" tall and made by Mattel in 2018. The full Justice League set includes Aquaman, Batman, Flash, Superman and Wonder Woman. I'm hoping they will stock the others in the set but I'm not holding my breath for I was lucky to find these when I did. They only had two Aquaman figurines and three Flash figurines left.

Bettie Page winks at you on the Choose A Bet screen and whenever she pops up during the game.

Moongem Comics Changes

You might have seen a few changes at Moongem Comics earlier today. Yes, I have decided to give this blog a slight make over. The biggest change is the color so say goodbye to the white text on black background at least for now. I also did away with the counter and the header. Gone also is the dead blogs and sites. I have also cut back on the recent posts of my favorite blogs since a lot of them had not posted for three months or more. The biggest change will be future posts so stay tune for what I have in store.
